In your experience, what kind of incentives have helped the most to move your team members to produce more and become leaders themselves? Contests? Free product? Free business supplies? Cash? Thanks in advance for your input!

I'm currently running a team incentive and my local team is working towards a social occasion where we all go out together and my team members out of state are looking at earning gift certificates that can be used towards our "logo" items.
I really think that most of my team members who are motivated to get into leadership do so because of the income potential, recognition etc. not really anything I've offered them.

What I implimented that I really think is working (because we have passed our alltime best in production after implimenting) is a team call.
Because my team is spread across the US and I also have leaders with their own teams we started a team call once a week. It has recognition and training. Then for the queens of sales, bookings and team building I send them a $5 gift card to Starbucks. My calls are recorded so if they cannot attend they can play them back and each week I have several that do. Then they get recognition in email format also.
I also really promote the corporate promotions. We track really closely so everyone has a chance to get everything. The main office gives away great prizes on a monthly basis so we can see a series of accomplishments all month long.
In addition to our weekly meeting (team call), we just implimented 2 team building calls a week so I can help to train on this aspect of the business.
In additon to that our upline offer a monthly contest too where prizes are given.

We have done all kinds of incentives for our team. Everything from catalogs, marketing products, products to resale and then some.
Our latest, in addition to our monthly, is a 3 month incentive to earn a much larger, kinda just for fun prize. Nothing to do with our business but a highly popular and well known product.
We have also had incentives to earn convention registration, etc.
I find some really go for the incentives while others are not necessarily motivated by them. I imagine that is true in any team.
