View Full Version : need help....having second thoughts!!!

I just signed up with a direct sales company and I'm getting my kit tomorrow but now I'm having second thoughts! For weeks I had been trying to decide between "Company A" and "Company B".
With "Company A" I felt there was a wider variety of customers to sell to and a variety of ways to work the business. The comission with this company was lower. I will say this business had to do with working with kids and I just wasn't sure if I could handle that all the time! (I do have two kids myself and sometimes I need a break) lol....however I do think it would be a fun and exciting opportunity!
With "Company B" the comission is alot higher and I would mainly do home parties. This is a romance company and so I feel that advertising would be limited (meaning you have to be careful how you word things and/or what materials you can leave with local businesses). Again, I think that this business would be fun to do because each party would be a fun "girls night" and some much needed time for myself.
I chose "Company B" and so far I only have my launch party and one other party booked. I'm getting nervous because I can't find anyone else to do a party. Maybe I'm being ridiculous because I haven't got my kit yet!
I have thought about calling the company I joined to ask if I could just send my kit back and get my money back. Is that even possible? Has anyone ever done that?

I dont know what I would do if I were in your situation, but it could just be jitters...maybe when the kit arrives see what kind of return policy they have, maybe work the business(do your parties)book parties from parties and see what kind of success you have with it.I think most companies have a 30 day return policy.Have you spoken to your upline about your fears?Who knows once you start working it and even with those two parties you do have booked, you may decide you like it?Good luck.

Yes I'm thinking it's the jitters also...lol! I just didn't know if it was even possible to return the kit. I haven't spoken to my upline yet. I plan on doing that tonight.

I hope it all works out for you! I honestly go back and forth with my emotions about my business with Jewel Kade. When I first signed, I was very gung-ho and I knew that I was going to be successful. I signed 5 people right away and had a ton of bookings...then I didn't have any sponsor for 3 months and bookings tapered off. Then I started to get a little panicky that what I envisioned wouldn't happen. All I had to do was talk to my upline and she was able to put me back into perspective. Now it's starting to pick back up and I'm learning that this business has its ups and downs but as long as you have the passion and determination to be successful then there is nothing stopping you!! Not even the down times :) Hang in there girl!!

Well said Rachel. This is the one lesson I am trying to learn LOL.
Southernbelle let us know how it goes with your new biz. Like all the ladies have said it is probably just the nerves and jitters setting in.

I agree that in part it's the jitters. One thing I always suggest folks ask themselves; is this a product that you yourself would use; today, tomorrow and for years to come?
There is a super thread (not sure which folder) about being a product of the product -
Just food for thought~
I hope everything works out for you and do keep us posted.

I would also agree about Jitters. Getting parties booked is sometimes tough when you don't have your kit/training and stuff with you...once you get kit/products you should be able to get more parties booked...and don't forget, folks who attend the first couple of parties will hopefully book from those.

Its just jitters.
I do Passion Parties and all it took was one party. and from that one party came another party then from that party came 3 parties and now my march is completely booked and I'm booking all the way into April!!!!
the Key is to visualize yourself SUCCEEDING. If you keep having negative thoughts and doubts it will produce negative results!
I wish you well :)

Well being that you seem comfortable with your choice, just hang in there and take things in strides. You will learn soon enough once you get your kit, how to attract customers.

Perhaps looking through your kit and seeing the possibilities will help relieve those jitters.
And you have your launch and a party already booked?!? That's excellent.
Just remember to sell yourself at your parties. Have fun. And ask, Ask, ASK for hosts at every opportunity!

Another vote for jitters.
You will be fine, and you'll be amazed how well it is going to go!

Ditto on the jitters!
One good party and some friends helping "spread the word" and you'll be off and running in no time.
Remember, your only job right now is to let everyone know what you do so they can help "hook you up" with new clients, hosts etc.
Finally, one piece of advice I like to give all my new team members is to give anything you get into one year. Give it your all and do your best for one soild year. I don't think you can really tell if a business is going to work out well until you've "ridden the wave" through the busier as well as the softer months. Once you've put that time in, turn around and look at where you've come from and make your decision at that point. I did exactuly that the first year I was in TS and were there times I was overwhelmed and felt like I was in "over my head?" You bet, but I promised myself I would give it a full year so hang in there, do your very best and see what can happen in 12 short months! :-)

I agree with all that is said. Yes, it's probably jitters. Once you get rolling, I think you'll do fine. And especially since you are doing romance parties, the women will get swept up in the fun they are having and will book their own too. That's definitely a party you need to experience and then you'll book.
Good luck!

Most importantly you must love the the product. It'll really show if you are not 100% enthusiastic.

I totally understand your fears. I've learned that business seems to have ups and downs. I have not done any home parties with any of my companies yet though...and I'm considering joining a company where you mainly do parties as a way to earn! (I need to get out of the house ;-) But I wanted to have four parties booked before joining and have only gotten one "maybe" so far. Others have told me you just have to go and tell everyone you know that you are doing the parties and it will happen.
Good luck!!

Curious where you are at? Did you love your kit?

I did receive my kit and really liked it! I have done two parties and I have two more parties booked this month so far. I have hardly made any sales though which is discouraging. I'm not really comfortable promoting the business because I feel like I might offend someone with the products I am selling. So now I'm wishing I would have chose the other business I was looking at but it is what it is I guess. I have invested way more money than what I wanted to get this business going so I hate to give up but I'm really not happy with what I'm doing. I'm thinking I will just do the parties I have booked already and be done with it. I feel that if I'm not happy promoting the business then I will never be successful with it!

One of the tips that has always helped me get through times, is when I think that I am simply SHARING with other what I have to offer. Not everyone will like it or want it, but I am still going to share.
Spend some time working on your wording. Your company and upline should have lots of suggestions.
Think about this...
If you opened a Steakhouse Resturant in your town, would you SHARE with everyone that you are open for business? I think you would...
But
what if you told someone who is a vegetarin.
or
Another person may have just had a heart attack and their dr said NO MEAT
or
someone who just lost their job and can't even buy groceries this week.
Would that change anything? Not really. Becasue you know that your resturant is not for everyone. And not everyone will come. But you would still SHARE that you opened it. They might know people who love meat.
I understand since you are with an adult novetly company...it can be a little more sensative, but again, talk to your upline, read the materials and just SHARE with people what you have to offer.
Some will, some won't, it's okay...who's next?
Good luck with your decision!

What was the other company?
The other company I was considering was geared towards children. I was considering that company because I would be able to take my kids with me and thought it would be something fun we could do together! But I chose the company I'm with because I also thought it would be nice to have some time to myself but I'm finding it's a little inconvenient to have to get a sitter when I have a party to do!

If you don't love what you do or feel comfortable, it will be hard to go far. Can you sell off your kit items to make back the money and go for the other company?
You really have to be passionate about what you do to be successful. I did a few companies for the wrong reasons and didn't make it far. But when I get excited about something, I know I can do well because I want to do it. :-)
Good luck!
