Hi fellow wahms!
I work with several companies but have never had a party...I am looking for advice and info on how to have one...all kinds - home parties, online parties, book parties...
How do you get guests and hostesses?
What types of games do you play?
How long should a party last?
And any other helpful advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Ali

Hi Ali,
I joined Scentfully Delightful using your link. I'm trying to put a banner on my website and it tells me that the html code is no good. Any advice?

oh boy...that's a very good question. I have problems with banners sometimes too, which is why some of the companies I am an affiliate for only have links on my site...maybe someone else here can help us both with this?? What is your website? I use webs.com and was wondering if they just don't like certain codes...?
Glad you found a company you like on my site!:-)

Hi Ali,
First have a Business Launch....invite everybody you know to this! Focus on getting bookings not sales. No bookings = no business.
Ask some of your close friends and family to help you get started by having a party. Keep the food light and minimal. In my case, I want the focus to be on Jewel Kade not all the food. At the party, ask EVERYBODY to have a party with you!! Even if all you get is 1 yes out of 10 times you ask then at least you are moving forward and still in business.
I personally don't do any games. I did that with my last business and I've discovered that most women want to have a girls night out...talking and mingling and getting to know one another. I want it to be fun!!! Not structured.
My parties last from 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. Really depends on how talkative everybody is and the atmosphere of the party.
Hope that helps!
Rachel

I don't usually do games either. At my largest party to date, a guest asked if we were going to play games. I told her I didn't have any planned but they were welcome to play some. Her reply was "Oh thank heaven. I HATE games!" ;)
I think it depends upon the products too. My product line is food - a product everyone knows, uses and enjoys.
An adult party toy may be a different story - especially if guests don't know what to expect or are a bit shy. Games may help break the ice and make them more at ease.
With my current company, I've done more home parties in the last 6 months than 2 years with my last. Every single one is different and a learning experience. But every single one has been FUN!
Best of luck,
Vicki

Sunset has great advice!
How do you get guests and hostesses? Talk to people. Let them know what you sell and that you are looking for hostesses. They will take care of the guests.
What types of games do you play? Like Sunset said, this is really industry specific. I did work in romance, and highly recommend a quick simple game to start off. This breaks the ice and relaxes everyone. I kept about a half a dozen diff games with me, and just picked one that I felt the group would enjoy. Sometimes I played a second after the break
How long should a party last? Again, this is product dependent. When I did romance, the party/presentation lasted about an hour, as you had to show them the product, allow it to pass around the room, and give advice etc. Sometimes it took longer or shorter, depending on how the crowd reacted.
I do candles now, and the presentation really should take no longer than 20 minutes. If all goes well, you can be in and out of the house in an hour.
And any other helpful advice is greatly appreciated! Ask your upline or on here if you have problems. And if it is a first party, tell them that! It helps them to relax, and you!

Important part of having an amazing home party is to help the hostess with sending invitations, sending party reminders, inviting more people invite 20 and maybe 10 will come, give her catalogs for those who can't make the party.

The best way to get guests is to hold your own party first. Let people see what kind of fun they will have and then they will be on board too. But as it's been said, you really need to ASK... everyone and anyone. I'm sure there are friends and family who are willing to host but are just waiting for you to say something. I've been guilty of that myself.... I wait until I'm asked.
Catalog parties need to be treated as a home party when it comes to hostess coaching. Go over everything with your hostess before she begins, check in with her along the way and meet/call her to close out the party. Otherwise, they may just put your stuff aside until a day before you are planning to close it. She will feel your enthusiasm and it will pay off.
Games- Some people swear by them and some people hate them. I always talked to the hostess about it first since she would have a good feel for her guests interests. If she says her friends just want to shop, I skip them. But more times than not, people really get into them. I usually have a few ready, just in case.
Good luck with your parties!

A kick off party is a great idea. Invite everyone you know to introduce them to you business. Theme parties are a great idea too. They help everyone to relax and have some fun. Good luck.
