I have some college, but I'm always learning everyday. I have not the slightest clue what it would amount to in college credits. I wonder how much education the guy had who had presented the 1st college degree in history, seeing he himself did not have one.

I have an AS in Criminal Justice that I earned traditionally and then a BS in CJ that I earned online. I am beginning my MA in Education in April and will do so online until the time I need to certify in the state where I am going to teach at which time I will go back to a traditional college setting. I will also of course have some interaction with students/mentors/other teachers if I look into an internship if one is required. It all depends on the state requirements as well as the track I choose to follow with the granting college itself.
It only took two years of being a sub for me to decide that I was ready to take the very big scary plunge into getting a MA in Education....not even closely related to AS or BS degrees. Might be why I'm having a hard time finding work now, I've never held a job where I was able to use either!

I started off as a Genetics major but later switched schools and majors to Management Information Systems. I worked full time and put myself through school going part time on weekends and evenings. Not the easiest and quickest way to do it but I managed to eventually get my Bachelors degree and graduated with a 3.9 GPA! Yep, I'm bragging lol ... I worked hard to do so ;)

I went to three different traditional universities, then I finished my Associate degree online at Kaplan. I'm saving up money so I can go back to school for nursing. Right now my education is basically just reading whatever I can on Internet marketing and PPC advertising.

I went to college for website design and they lost accreditation for the program 1 quarter from my being finished. So I went to another college and ended up having to leave there due to medical/financial issues.

So now I study up on network marketing, freelance write, and attend college online to get a bachelor's degree. :)

I am of the opinion that education is important and always beneficial.

That said, I have a high school diploma. I took one college art class...I always wanted to go to college, but I married young. My husband and I decided we would put him through school first, then me. Well, we started having kids and he wasn't doing well at work and I needed to focus on helping bring in income... and so on... so the opportunity has not become available for me yet.

However, I am the North American Operations Manager for a successful consulting firm. I own a speciality fulfillment business that I manage on the side. I am staff at one of the most highly sought after women's life and art retreats. I am one of only six leaders in a new national DS company. I'm also the go to seamstress for the largest dance studio in my area. I'm a florist, published artist, interior designer and a consultant for online sales. I have worked professionally in all of these fields, they are not just my hobbies.

My DH, bless his heart, has his Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership, and is working in an entry level position with high school graduates.

I don't believe you have to have a degree to accomplish great things. I believe success, in the business world, is a mindset that must be taught from a young age. Responsibility, accountability, self discipline, and leadership opportunities all play a roll.

I believe it is absolutely possible to be highly successful without higher education, and I do not believe higher education guarantees you of anything but maybe student loans.

Don't take this post the wrong way, I am definitely NOT anti education and I will someday make it to college and achieve a degree. It's a life goal, and very important to me. It's on the bucket list.

I graduated from law school with a Juris Doctor. I had to teach myself most of what I learned about law because I was a single mom at the time on a tight budget. I am trying to teach my children how to teach themselves too.

I just wish I would have paid myself all that money I spent going to a prestigous school instead of running up all that debt.
