I'm in a little rut and would like to get some sales from both of my companies to help with some bills that keep coming in. Does anyone know of any free places online to advertise that are actually worth it? Or know where online I can find free advertising places in my state/community?

I pick up the phone. Start making calls to previous customers and hostesses.
Ask your kids teachers if they know of any kids who having birthdays soon. It seems like both your companies would do well with that.

Well I just started Stuff A Friend so I don't have a customer base yet, and my kids aren't in school so that idea's out. I didn't know if it was bad to call Usborne customers and hostesses for Stuff A Friend?

Try to remember that there might be someone out there who really needs a good idea for a birthday party. And I would think that your customer base for either company would like to know about it. Ask around and then call and say "I heard you're having a party soon and I thought I would ask if you've considered having a Stuff a Friend party." Or something like "I know you're probably busy making plans, but I thought it might help if I helped you with this great activity the kids can take home with them."
Many moms would rather pay you to set things up, than to try to fit it into their busy schedule. You can add "I'd be happy to bring the cake. If you just let me know how many are coming, how old your child will be and what flavor they like, I can bring the cake with me when I come. That way you don't have to worry about it."
Offer a service to them, not just a product. smileys/smiley2.gif

Well, I neeed sales so I invited Billy's Kindermusik class over for a Playgroup party and didn't do 2 bad. We had fun, I got some orders, booked a party, and have a potential recruit.
Are you involved in any groups you can invite to "play"?

No we're not in any playgroups yet, but hopefully soon after this next baby's born we can get involved (I'm too tired and uncomfortable for that... lol).

I do a variety of thing - get out and get catalogs in peoples hands, talk to everyone I can, call current customers - put stickers on my books offering a referral bonus - like 10% off etc -
Set up a booth at a college, craft fair, job fair, women's expo etc - you end up getting a lot of customers in addition to recruits
I will expand my every campaign reminder note to include some education about skin care, color, aging etc - so spark some interest - or maybe the many uses for products -
I offer to do skin care clinics/beauty bash party, send out my link for my personal beauty system to get people to profile themselves
I know my biz is different - but a few ideas maybe you can apply
Good Luck
