Hi everyone. I have ton of questions. I'm working on starting a couple of businesses and need a website. I've purchased domain names, hosting, etc. from godaddy before and have played around, but never made a really professional looking site. I know nothing about HTML or CSS or anything else. Am I biting off more than I can chew by trying to do everything myself? I've tried using Godaddy's Website Tonight, but don't like the cookie cutter feel of it. Should I use Wordpress? Should I leave this up to a professional or do you think it's possible for me to learn enough to do this myself without it taking years. The only problem I really have with handing this over to someone else is I think I'm a control freak sometimes. It's hard for me to let go of things and let other people do them. Plus, I don't always know exactly what I want and tend to make changes alot. Any advice would help greatly. Thanks!

HTML and CSS is the old fashioned way of doing websites. It takes a very long time and you really have to know what you are doing to do that. I haven't used wordpress before but I have heard good things about it. You can use wordpress as your content management system and there are plenty of wordpress themes that you can download and play around with to be able to customize it yourself. I have always done websites with HTML and CSS but like I said there are many ways to create websites instead of doing that.Supposedly, wordpress is more user-friendly and easier to update than doing it the old fashioned way. I hope that I helped you in some way.

It kind of depends on what you are doing.

If you are setting up a website for your law firm or medical practice, I probably wouldn't try to do it yourself if you are just getting into website design.

If it is a site about some niche that you want to work as an affiliate marketer, you can probably do all you need to through WordPress.

Whether or not to outsource that to someone else or do it yourself really comes down to how much your time is worth to you. If you don't mind investing the time to learn it yourself, then go for it. If you want something up and running right away and don't want to spend hours learning how to do it, hire someone.

I think the best choice would be to go with wordpress and then hire a professional to develop your theme for you, the way you want. That way you get a good looking site without having to spend months/years learning how to programming HTML/CSS and then WordPress, plus you get the control over it that you want so once they are done you can change it however you see fit.
