i applied for this way back and got a interview, didnt take the job because they ONLY pay you for hours worked. so say you were scheduled to work 6 hours, but you only took about 2 hours of calls/work, you ONLY get piad for 2 hours. i decided to decline the offer.

Maybe I'm missing something, but don't most jobs pay you only for hours worked?

Icon, what she's saying is that instead of actually getting paid hourly, you're getting paid for the time you actually spend on the phone, or responding to emails. Essentially, you could be scheduled for six hours, only be on the phone for two of those six, so you only get paid for two. Don't think that would be my cup of tea either.

I emailed this company and the email I got back asked if I would accept $5.50 an hour!!!! That has to be a typo.

Princess, I appreciate the lead and I hope you are doing great with them, but this is something I am just going to have to pass on.
I am about ready to respond and ask if they would be willing to work for that. These companies are getting ridiculous.
This amounts to less than a dime a minute.

They want serious "long-term career-minded" individuals to work for $5.50/hr and just bill for hours actually worked? LOL! I wish them good luck with that one.

Yea, you can say that again. These work at home jobs if you ask me are nothing but a big joke! They stink big time! If you want to make good money, consider getting a job outside of your home. Remember, independent contractors have no rights under the labor law acts and are not entitled to minimum wage payment. The only right you have is the right to quick or go through a court system to get money you were not paid for.

I completely understand not wanting to work for $5.50 an hour but I don't understand what makes this job any different from the jobs that pay per talk minute or mturk, etc... the jobs you can do around other eggs?

Honestly, I felt the same about the pay when I first started. On the other hand I was just so happy to have work and a little bit of money. Posting this vacancy I was hoping to help someone find some legit work there are so many scams out there. And this is legit work that is consistant, not project based. Some of us are home anyway and could use whatever little money comes in.

I'm going to give it a shot. I emailed my information and I hope to hear back from this company. What can you lose, you know? It is money. No, it's not a million dollars, and it's not minimum wage, but I think one could make some good cash doing this. I need every little bit right now because there are so many places, outside of my home, that are laying people off. It's terrible out in the "real world." Thanks for the lead, princess26.......Sharon :)

I sent my information to them as well. It's better than me having to go look for a second job outside of the home. Thank you, Princess26.

I'm sorry people were so quick to jump on the negative bandwagon. I would agree that the hourly rate is low, but I can also see how I could work a job like this while doing other things. I work a job evenings and weekends right now and it is a pay per minute job. When it is slow, I work a non phone egg so I am still earning. Being creative with our time is one way to make a lot more money.
Someone reading this will see this as a great opportunity to add a little extra to their monthly income and be grateful to you for posting. ;)

Subcontractors do not have minimum wage laws. Many IC jobs that are work from home are lower then minimum wage. Not all - but a lot.

As a newbie in the virtual assistant world I look at this as an added new client and something I could work my other data entry jobs around. Is there alot of phone? Are there certain times of the day that you are required to work? Thanks OP for posting this lead.

Although the hourly rate is very low, and I do agree, many companies take advantage of at home ICs by offering very low rates, this could be an opportunity for a newbie or an individual starting an at home business. Even a job that pays very little could open up other opportunities or help someone keep "active" while continuing to look for the right fit. Don't be so harsh...not everyone is an established business owner or an at home worker.
