I love the idea of the little plug in melters but I have a dog and 8 cats. Does anyone have any experience with using them with animals? Most of my outlets are low. I want to make sure it's safe for them before I buy any.

Thanks for your help.

Barb,

I love the plug in warmers too! What I would do is put them up on a higher endtable or shelf if you can. They also have child proof "caps" that can go over the plug in outlet part. I have them for my TV because I have a 2 year old. Another thing you might think about is the Odor Eliminating gels that For Every Home has. They do not plug in or light and put off fragrance for 3 months. Plus they are safe around pets and kids.

Hey, Barb,

Our plug ins are coming out in a few weeks, so I cannot speak specifically to those.

However, I have used plug ins with the oils all over the house. My cats have never messed with any of them...I don't have a dog, so I can't speak to that. But I do think this type of thing is not appealing to them??? I have also used the warmers with melts in them, and as you know there aren't many places that a cant can't get to, and I have never had an issue with those.

I do like the other suggestion on the previous post...those sound interesting.

Best wishes,

Melissa

Thanks for your replies. I do use the Mia Bella melter now in the kitchen and the cats don't bother it but I was wondering about when it's more at their level. I'll definitely give them a try when they come out.

I have a black lab who is a handful and surprisingly he has not gotten into my warmer. I have a plug-in down in a low outlet in one of my family rooms. I thought for sure the first time he saw it he would go over and eat the wax out of it but he hasn't touched it at all. Our toy poodle hasn't gotten into it either, but she doesn't normally get herself into trouble so I didn't think she would bother it.

I have a small puppy named Charley.. He likes to get into everything.. I do have some plug in's that are low and very reachable by Charley. He has never even bothered them. I do love the fact that if for some reason he does.. it will not burn him, plus our product is easily cleaned up with hot soapy water, so i am not too worried.. But so far so good.. Guess it doesnt squeak, so he doesnt want anything to do with them..ha

I have warmers & plug-in's all over my home with 3 dogs & a cat.. I have never had a problem with any of them playing in them. My cat loves to get into everything, but not the wax.. I went with the warmers/plug-in's because of my animals I was so afraid my cat was going to knock a candle over... I have to say I feel so much safer using them..

Best of luck as we know all animals are different... LOL.. ;)

I have my first plug-in warmer set low in the room my cats are in all the time. They have not paid any attention to it thus far. Kitchen counter outlets and bathroom outlets that are higher work well for those concerns though :)
