View Full Version : Candles At Target

I am sure we have all checked out the candles to see what is out there, and I was so suprised at the prices I saw today at Target. Yankee Candle has a line at Target, probably most of you already know this, and they were far more expensive than I would expect to see at Target.

I guess that is good for all of us, but I really was surprised to see how much they were for the sizes that were similar to what my company carries.

I fought the urge to hang out in the aisle to talk to anyone who might stop to shop there. Maybe I will do that next time when I don't have my two little ones with me.

I think in that moment I was so proud to be in direct sales and able to offer a product that is not only better in quality but also better in value.:)

I know and the sad part is when you check out the ones that have burn times on them or see the large jar candles with just one wick and you KNOW they will end up having at least half the wax left on the sides.

I, myself am a candle isle lurker ;).....I dont talk to people, but I do hurry up and write down prices and burn times like a little spy. Really, I am not doing anything wrong....just gathering info. We should all be proud that we offer quality products at prices people can afford.

I do the same thing, Jennie. I'm waiting on my tote bag I ordered that says "Candle Lady" on it so I can be standing there with my tote bag in the candle isle writing stuff down. It makes an awesome comparison when you're doing a party and tell guests how they can save money by ordering through direct sales distributors. I've actually thought about ordering a purse that has a see-through plastic pouch on the front where I can put our brochures and have a few scent sample packets right there for people. Maybe even print out a sticker that says "Take One." LOL

I know....sometimes I think I am stuck 10 years behind when I think about how much things should cost. I did not realize till I went down the candle aisle and saw what "Y brand" is going for these days!! Honestly if my candles cost that much I would not be able to stomach it lol. With my demo discount I pay half that for a far superior product.

People sometimes do not realize that even paying tax and shipping buying through an independent demonstrator that they are still saving money over what they would pay for an inferior product in the store.

I have not had the guts to approach shoppers yet either but I will one day lol.

Oprah had a candle in her "favorite things" list last year that was $350. Yes........$350 lol.

$350!? Did it have diamond dust in it or something? Or was it made from whale blubber? :D

Krista - I've seen some really nice spa candles for $75. From the description the only difference is essential oils and a really nice frosted design glass jar.

Yes, I've seen some of Targets' candles too and they weren't cheap.
Plus they don't come wiht the personalized service, samples and smiles we all bring to our business, now do they?

It's a burning passion!
