Maybe I should be using something else, then?
I have years and years of family photos plus my husband's years of professional photography to upload and I am not about to choose each file individually for upload through their interface. I found the file in the server where uploaded images are kept, then I FTP'd a bunch of pictures but they're not showing up in the album and I'm looking through the help forums and I don't see anything indicating that FTP upload is supported. What a pain in the butt.
I use Godaddy hosting, so I have access to ZenGallery and a few others.
I want to drag & drop or FTP, I do NOT want to select individual files.
Thanks, ladies :)

THANK YOU
Coppermine is working out just fine, images are uploaded, now I just need to tinker with it. It's not very pretty, is it? Not that I care, it meets my most important requirement- FTP upload, thanks so much for the tip.

Glad to help!
You can actually customize the design if you're familiar with editing codes. I used Coppermine in the past for a church website.
