OK, I got my "end of assignment" notice. I remember someone mentioning here that laid off raters can apply for unemployment benefits, right?

I thought that the agreement that I signed said that this will not be my only job or something to that effect. Regardless, if you have another job and are working part time, can you still apply for benefits?

I'm sorry you got your notice :-( I just finished testing with LF, and I will hear tomorrow if I passed, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they would hire me right away.

If you work another part-time job, as an employee, no, I don't think you can apply for unemployment. But if you work as an independent contractor, you can.

Good luck with LF! My husband has applied with them but have not yet heard back.

I doubt it... Weren't you considered a private contractor? Usually unemployment is paid by a companies insurance.. Good luck.

If you were w/WFL then yes you can. WFL raters are employees not independent contractors. I was able to collect unemployment after my year w/WFL was up. The specifics about working part time will depend on your state I believe. I can earn a small amount of $ every week w/out affecting my unemployment benefit amount, but I must report all income earned.

I worked for WFL for a year (ended last January 09) and was able to apply for unemployment benefits. Go to your state's unemployment website and they should be able to give you all the information you need.

Thanks everyone! I will go to the unemployment office when my last 3 weeks are up, we'll see how it goes. I will post the results here.

Kbud and Lisa, what states are you in? Also, if you don't mind me asking, did you receive the full benefit amount?

I'm in FL. I received the full amount I was entitled to plus there is an extra $25/week from the federal government. I didn't get very much because the way FL calculates it included a quarter before I was even hired so my income that quarter was $0. I also only worked about 10 hours a week. I was able to apply on-line and it was very simple.

I am in AZ. I worked almost 30 hours every week and received the full benefit amount which has defnitely helped out.

I'm in GA and God bless WFL and unemployment benefits!

I guess Google doesn't want to pay the SUI taxes anymore, hence lack of hiring by WFL and more contract lobj available by LB/LF :(((

Please don't wait and go to your DOL office the very next day your assignment ends. Good luck!

Yes, I plan to apply as soon as it ends. I'll try to do it online first.

Thanks everyone for your responses!
