I am just curious if we are limited to only selling for the Candle Company we signed up with.

I mean, it's great that one company has a certain product, but what about what another candle company has to offer?

Some only offer jar candles, but no pillars. Can I sign up with another company that does have pillars and possibly expand my customer base?

Hope I won't get "black listed" for this, but again, I am really curious.

Hi,

Depending on the company you signed up with you would need to check their requirements. I was informed that some companies don't allow for their reps tobe reps for two candle companies.

With the Bittersweet Candle Company you are only allowed to sell for one candle company where their main line is candles. From my understanding you can sell for a company who may have candles in their line as long as it isn't their main product. For example, I know that Jafra sells a set of spa candles in the bath/body line. You could sell for both Bittersweet and Jafra at the same time.

I wish I could help, but I make my own products. I would definitly check with people from each company you are interested about and find out that way. I am sure they would be more then happy to help you out. :)

Like the others have said you would want to check with the companies first, but I would think it might be hard to sell for 2 candle companies. Then if you did a party and sold for both you would have to place 2 different orders and have 2 sets of catalogs and paper supplies, it just seems like it might be a hassle.

As far as I know ours doesn't have a "non compete clause" but if you don't like all of what one has, or they don't have everything you'd like them to, why sign with them? I can't imagine using another candle...and I won't. Just what I sell. And I couldn't sell for 2 competing companies because personally it wouldn't work for me.

Well, here is my thinking for what it's worth...

If you just want to retail candles, and not build a business of consultans,
then just buy wholesale from the manufacturer, and by-pass the Direct
Sales company altogether. It's more of a hassle, more time consuming
for you to do it this way, but if you are ony retailing, you'll make a bigger
retail profit that way.

If you are going to build a business of consutants, then choose one
company, and focus like a laser on booking, selling, and recruiting. I am
in Direct Sales for one main reason. To build a huge organization of
women and men who see what we have as a fantastic product line, at a
fantastic deal price-wise, and who want to build for themselves, and their
families total financial freedom. That most likely will not be done
retailing alone.

Hope that was helpful,

Nondy

I would think most companies (candles or otherwise) would consider it a conflict of interest to sell for another company carrying the same main product. You would have to check with the specific companies to see what their policies are. I understand where you are coming from with your question. If you walk into a retail candle store, you mayfind products from several different companies. I just think it's a little different in direct sales. For me personally, it would be too confusing to represent 2 candle companies. You also have to be careful of overwhelming your customers. I think keeping it as simple as possible for them is important. If you wanted to build a team with one or both, I could see that becoming a nightmare. I don't have any problem belonging to my 2 companieswhich are entirely different, but 2 of the same would not work for me at all.
