I am working on an article for my blog about party plan companies vs. network marketing companies. I've been involved in party plan businesses for years and now am beginning to hear more about network marketing companies.
This is where I need your help. What is the difference between home party companies and network mareketing companies? I know some of you are involved with both so I'd love to hear for you (well, I'd love to hear from anyone who knows the answer.) Is it that one goes out to do the home parties and the other doesn't? Are there more major differences between the 2? Some seem obvious but then I run into a company that really could be considered either.
Thanks for your help.
~Amy

Hi Amy,
The "key concept" is that network marketing is a legal and regulatory classification of business model, and party plan is simply a description of how business is transacted on a day-to-day basis.
Some network marketing companies are party-plan; others are not. Some party plan companies are network marketing; others are not. So these two terms are neither synonymous nor mutually exclusive - they're just "overlapping".
I think your question's fully answered in this post (http://www.wahm.com/forum/wahms-network-marketing-49/477887-definitions-differences-between-network-marketing-mlm-direct-sales-party-plan.html#post2510131) and in one other post which is linked to in that post.

Basically the differences between the two are that Network marketing is more focused on recruiting to earn a high income and Home party companies can earn a very good income by conducting parties as the money is generated in a group setting.
Hope this helps....
However a lot of home party companies are also network marketing.

Excuse me, Amy, for hijacking your thread, but I need to address something and I'm going to do it here just in case anyone else misunderstands:
(I previously offered some good articles but someone who thinks they are the posting police flagged my post as being a "advertising" post ;)
We ask that members take an active role in drawing our attention to posts that may violate our rules. With so many folders here, and so few moderators, it is really, really, really helpful when a member reports a post/thread "just in case". The end result, however, is not based on another member's opinion - the moderators or myself decide what actually breaks the forum rules or doesn't. If a post that is reported doesn't need to be deleted, then it's not. If it does need to be deleted, then it is.
I just wanted to clear up any confusion on that. If you have any questions, Successweet, or need further clarification, then you can PM me.
