I was thinking about this as I was answering another post.

What are you feelings about introducing the business end before introducing the products?

Maybe I'm just not getting it, but I feel uncomfortable with trying to
push the business part before they've even tried the products. When I
first signed up, I told my sponser that I wanted to try the products
out first before making a decision about becoming a business builder,
which I did end up doing, because I love and believe in the products!

Do what you are comfortable with! I think there is a way to mention the business, w/o coming across weird about not letting them try the products first! When I am dropping off products for someone to try, before I drop them off, I ask them if I could leave some information about the business. I say that I know it might not be for them, but they may know someone looking for an opportunity like this. That way, I am not being "sneaky" and showing up under the notion that it is just to drop off product. When I arrive, I show them the CDARN chart and explain that I am looking for a few key people who want to join my team and achieve to make it to X level and leave them w/ a curiosity pack (EOA stories, Arbonne Now CD and brochure, and 3 pages I add). I always let them know that most importantly, I want them to fall in love with the products! Over the next 3 days though, it would be great for them to read the information.

Without products moving we have no business, it all comes down to the product. Before anyone makes a decision they MUST try the products first, it’s actually in the policies I believe. But you can’t recommend products to people if you’ve never tried them, that’s just silly.

Having said that, I always lead with the business. Why? How often do you think someone stays up at night worrying about wrinkles or a good skin care system? How often do you think amazing products are the answers to people’s dreams? Now how often do you think someone stays up at night worrying about how to pay their bills? How often do you think people’s marriages fail b/c of financial issues? Did you know that the majority of bankruptcies can be averted by just $300 extra a month?

I am in this business to help people, period. I impact people’s lives more with the business than I can with the product. So I lead with the business then have them try the product in the process. I do not push anything either way. I simply give them information & let them decide if they are interested in finding out more either way.

I just signed someone up who I went with the business first then products-it was a friend who I took to a DA and she was so impressed with the biz part- I then handed her the products to use and of course she loved them--so for her it worked-dont think it would work on everybody but you have to go with your gut--

I have another one that I dropped off the system to on Tues and we are getting together today- she originally just wanted a foundation- but admitted she could use a good skin care system so she is trying it- now I am going to hit her with the biz- she is absolutely perfect- in fact was one of those that I put a star by on my name list as someone I thought would be perfect for this biz-so I am keeping my fingers crossed on her!

barbra- i think thats a great idea about telling them you are dropping stuff
of info ect and it might not be for them bc i think sometimes i feel sneaky
about oh hows the products and oh heres the business i think i am gonna
change and do that bc then at least they know so maybe they could be
thinking of someone they know and its not a surprise when you come to
pick it up great idea! iwas always told to drop it off and "leave the car
running " dont even leave a catalog bc you dont wan them worring about the
price ect.

Our groupalso drops off a copy of the Don Failla book along with the kit, EOA, etc., and we ask them to just read the first four napkins. It gives thema great introduction to how the business works, and how they can be successful with it. smileys/smiley1.gif

I do mostly in home demonstrations and I always, always, always present the opportunity first.

The question you need to ask yourself is "Why do I feel like I am pushing the opportunity?" My point is, do you believe in the opportunity? If you don't believe in it, then you aren't going to feel comfortable presenting it.

The way that I look at it is that, if you don't present the opportunity to people, then you are taking the chance at someone else doing it and losing them as a potential business builder. You will never know if you don't ask.

Trust me, I have been in situation before. Once I got over that hurdle, it became much easier. If people aren't interested, they will tell you! You will hear lots of no's in this business.

Amen sister! "No" seems to be my middle name!smileys/smiley36.gif I think you can kind of tell by the personwhat is the best approach. My sponsor introduced the business to me first, then, when I "got it", I tried the product. Frankly, I wasn't looking for another skin care system. I would have tried it, but would have thought she was just another skin care rep and probably wouldn't have been very open to hearing about the business. It's all a very gentle balancing act, trust your gut.

I agree with Jennifer believing in the opportunity will take you a long way. For me, even though I "got it", it still took me some time to believe in NWM as an industry. I was afraid people would think I was trying to scam them if I approached them with the business first. If you feel this,I would suggest reading some good books on the industry. I just read the NWM chapter in Robert Allens book "Multiple Streams of Income". If you haven't yet, I'd definately suggest it...it's very affirming!

I think it varies by who you are talking with. I had someone Sunday who came to an open house I had and she bought the system straight up no questions or samples. She's a very product oriented person, so I will wait until she has used the product before talking with her about the biz. Then again, I have a friend who is need of a way to make money and wants some great skin products, so she got "the one two punch" smileys/smiley1.gifand is probably going to do the biz as well.
