I think the biggest challenge is finding something legitimate. If you are starting your own business it's probaly all the responsiblity you have. Your success is all dependent on you. You have to make sure to dedicate time, patience and believe in yourself. That's a challenge.

I totally agree. And once you find a good system to follow, it still takes tons of dedication in the very beginning. There is no get rich quick.

Yes I think it is hard to find just what you are looking for and that it is for real. Long term...I have found something good and I'm so thankful!

Mine is time management. I am still constantly working on it.
It's weird b/c I was extremely organized when I had a job....I work from home now and it all went out the window.
I had all my tasks planned out from the least-favorite to the stuff I loved. And now I'm at home..there is no routine. Ugh!

This is hard to deal with especially if you don't have a specific time or place to work.
When it's time for me to work, if its super loud in the house, I will put on my headphone with some kind of songless music in the background. I love the sound of the ocean, the rain, or the symphony.
Another thing you might be able to do is schedule your daily routines according to how much you need the quiet.
IE. If you need to make phone calls do those while your kids are napping, doing their chores, homework, or outside playing.
What do you find is the hardest thing to get taken care of on a daily basis? Is it a matter of just needing to make a routine? Have you tried making lists with time alotments, as well as only checking email twice per the working day? Is it a matter of not getting the momentum to do the activity? Or is it that you trully don't know where to start?
I have some great tips on how to simplify your daily routine on my blog if you want to check it out.
Try using something like google calender or Outlook for the scheduling features.
Let me know how it works out.

I find that keeping myself organized is an isse. I homeschool my 4 year old, so I've been trying to keep organized. It's hard. He was in Pre-K, but I had to pull him out due to the fact that the teacher said he wouldn't sit down with the other children. He wasn't paying attention. I asked him why he wasn't listening. He said he was bored. So, after a month and a half of talking with the teacher every day, I just pulled him out completely. So, now the challenge is keeping our daily routine together.
I am organized when it comes to keeping him on track with schoolwork, reading, and etc.. It's keeping my stuff organized. Ugh.. I need to make a schedule, because I find when I have a schedule that I try to stick with it as much as I can.

I think the biggest challenge for me is the feeling of "I'm not getting anything done" because of constant interruptions, or (big one) having to have a child in my lap, meaning I can't really sit down and write. I can do some with a kid in my lap... but eventually I need quiet and I need "hands free" to be able to really focus.

Salmasaly94, this website is absolutely great for helping to screen out those scams. I actually found my company by mistake while I was digging up dirt on scams. At some point though, there's always some amount of risk involved. By that I mean that you'll never find out for sure until you try something and decide for yourself whether or not it's a good fit. But the best thing to do is scour the internet for anything bad about whatever company you're researching. Always play devil's advocate and analyze the information you find, and most importantly, trust your gut instincts!

My biggest challenge is not a what , but a WHO....my 3 year old son., Very high need. But he does go to pre-k 2 days a week and bed by 9 so I have some time online.
And being single with 3 kids and 2 home businesses is challenging enough. But in a good way. Meaning, it's very rewarding to see efforts pay off and income increase!

I would say in my situation I am still having to work full-time outside of home as well as WAH. I will be glad to quit my full-time job so that i can concentrate my efforts on my WAH eggs:) I will be quitting soon when my DH goes off to the police academy so I can be home full-time with our 3 children.

Hi Liz,
Thank you for the suggestions!
I think what it is for me is that I have sooo many things going on that I kind of lost my way. I would start off with good intention but then something comes up and I veer off. Then getting back on track is difficult b/c I do a lot of 'I'll organize tomorrow' then that turns into weeks.
I have 2 little ones, one with a speech delay and one who is having some problems at school. In addition my husband has had multiple surgeries in his back and just finished a foot surgery, so I'm having the hardest time balancing mommy time, wifey time, business time, and still get adequate rest.
You know what drives me insane? When I see videos of other wahms or just a pic of their office and there are NOO papers to be seen! I'm like how do you function??!?? LOL LOL But I'm just one of those people that writes everything down and then don't throw it away once done with it. I'm a hot mess. LOL
Most definitely I need to write my schedule down in hourly increments and stick with it.

Ohhhh your newborn. How precious! I remember when my daughter was born, it was right in the middle of my online college courses thru UMUC...I would have to take her little carrier with me to the library and pray she stayed asleep while I did my work. I was there always in excess of 2-3 hrs at a time.
Time management is definitely my goal as well, let us know how it works out for you or if a routine is developed over time. :o)

Well, as all other jobs working from home has its good and bad sides, but as for many it's the only possibility to earn anything, i still think it's great that we have such an option

Exactly! that's been the hardest from me.. I've been at home now for about 12+ yrs. You'll never believe what I've decided to do.
I'm actually getting a part time job.. that pays practically nothing.. so I'll have to manage my time better, if I plan to continue working on my 'at home' business . Yep, I think I'll get more work done at home by working part time out of the home. Well, like I said, that's what I think will happen.
Maybe I'll send an update from my new little experiment.! :D

I find it hard not to get distracted. It is too eas to spend time on the phone, watching TV or surf the net during the times set aside for actually working.

Most WAHM miss the interaction with others and sometimes feel isolated
BUT being with a HomePartyPlan will definitely be the answer to that.
As someone who has WAH for many years the biggest challenge
is the temptation to stop and talk on the phone to friends,
watch soaps or the View,
so you have to be organized, stick with your goals for the day
and than reward yourself after you reach your goals on a daily basis.
The rewards of working from home and the satisfaction of contributing to the family income outweigh all challenges!

My biggest challenge is lack of focus... trying to do too many things at one time. I am still adjusting to working from home and I seem to think because I am home I have to do all the home stuff AND my work. And I sometimes miss the daily social interactions of my former work lifestyle. I miss having the comraderie of a team and clients coming into the store. BUT.. I do love working from home and I am getting better at focusing and time management.
