What is a better option for small business exposure...
A Blog
A Website
For what I am looking at .... I just want something that is "information" for people to go to and learn more. But have tabs attached to the blog where they would "shop"....This shop would be a replicated site for the direct sales biz I have.
What would be a better option for me? I want to use my own URL address... but dont have a host yet.

Using a blogging platform like WordPress is generally a lot easier than creating a site from scratch.
Google also likes blogs for SEO purposes, so many will say that it is easier to get a blog to rank high in the SERP's.

I also recommend Wordpress. You can even use it to power your whole website. You can have an "informational" website with a matching, integrated blog. I do it all the time. Or if you don't want to be an active blogger just yet, let Wordpress power your website and leave the blog portion out for now. It's very flexible.

haydens_mom, I responded elsewhere, but please let me know if I can be of any assistance. WordPress works really well as a cms with all the new features these past few years. In fact, last month WordPress won "Overall Best Open Source CMS Award" at the 2009 Open Source CMS Awards. It's really no longer just blog software. :)
Best,
Alison

I will vote for Wordpress too. It's the easiest way to add content to which SE love fresh new content.

I think a blog would be better as it is easier to create and also can generate a steady stream of revenue. Also blogs get ranked in SERPs and this helps in attracting traffic. My 2 cents are to opt for a blog.
