Sometime in the next month or so I will be having an open house.
I will be hosting an open house for the new biz. I'd like somesimple (and inexpensive) food ideas. Does anyone have any? I'm not the best cook, so the simpler the better.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure whether or not you are wanting to purchase products or buy foods, but I sell Entertain With Ease and we have some great tasting products that only require that you add one or two ingredients to them. We have a great salsa fresca you could serve with chips, a citrus pepper that you could roll in a block of cream cheese and serve with crackers, great tasting chocolate and caramel sauce you could warm and serve with fruits or cakes and a wonderful latte dessert dip mix that's easy and very tasty!
If you want, visit our website and take a look at our products. www.entertainwithease.com (http://www.entertainwithease.com)
I do have some of these products here at home that I have at a special sale rate. If you are interested in finding out more about that, let me know and I'd be happy to tell you about my specials.
I wish you luck in your new business and hope these ideas help some.

Michele,
Angie gave you some great ideas! I'm also a rep for a gourmet food co. and would be happy to share some ideas. I would definitely suggest finger foods. Dips, both mild and spicy with veggies and possibly chips, fruit dips w/ a fruit platter, salsa and tortilla chips, brownies, possibly cookies, beer bread cubes w/bread dipping blends, cheeseball w/crackers, tortilla wraps and the list goes onsmileys/smiley2.gif
How many people do you expect? We could help you set up a menu. FUN!

Whenever I make these fruit kabobs, people seem to really enjoy them. You just take regular toothpicks and stack up the following fruits on them: First, a cubed pineapple, second a manderin orange, third a slice of bannana and a marachino cherry to top it off. I buy canned pinapple, orange and jarred cherries, but I suppose you could use fresh pineapple if you want to take the time to cut it up (or by it cut up at the grocery store). The canned pineapple works well because if you soak the bannana slices in the pineapple juice, the will not brown for hours.
Also, an easy finger food is to get a package of cocktail hotdogs, slice up and couple of green peppers and onions and mix them with BBQ sauce and simmer in the crockpot... super easy
Hope you find what you need!

You could have a chocolate fountain! Serve with apple slices, strawberries,
pineapple, etc... YUM!! Just have a small cup with oversized craft picks
(bigger than toothpicks), poke the fruit and hold under the
chocolatefountain. Have napkins or tiny plates for those drips...

There are a lot of great ideas here- I had a grand opening yesterday for Home & Garden Party & served Fruit dip with Ritz crackers. Others brought a side dish to go with what I had provided. I think it really depends on what you want to serve. I served Tea a the drink . Good Luck.

You can also try Hummus and Guacamole with pita bread or chips.
Easy and satisfying, and not on the sweet side. I also like to do
meatballs. I just get a bag of frozen ones with at really good spagetti
sauce (love Newmans, plus he donates so much to charity) and that is
always a big hit. Keep it simple and it is sure to be a
hit. Don't go over board either or people will think it is too
much work to host. Best of Luck!smileys/smiley4.gif

Cool. Thanks for the easy ideas guys. I really like the lil smokies and the fruit kabobs. Also, I like the idea of a simple fruit/veggie tray. I'm not a maker of tea (never have done it very well) but Milo's seems really popular down here.
Thanks so much for all of the greatsuggestions.
