Today I believe I have had one of my most FAVORITE parties to date!!

It was at the fellowship hall of a Nazarene Church, and my hostess and her sister are Caterer's :) The food was out of this world, I had 15 guests, the people were so so friendly - and the fellowship was just wonderful. Things went smoothly and on schedule - we were in and out in 2 hours. The Bingo/Booking Game was a HUGE hit.

The sales were outstanding too! And too add more icing on top of that delicious Texas Sheet Cake, they sent me home with leftovers, and another Booking :) It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

What has been your favorite party to date?

That sounds great!! I enjoy my parties more and more as I feel more comfortable with them. Lately Ive been using "Vanna Cards" and that eases So much pressure on me to remember everything!! Last weekend was definitly a hit, it was such a busy party full of friends, food, and of course all candle lovers. People do love to get together, especially this time of year. I am just glad to be able to have something great to contribute!!

Robin and Clair - I have not had a party....yet. I just started with SoyLicious.com and it looks like my first party will be sometime in Nov. It will be my first and so I know I will be a bit nervous but I do love the products and the company and so I know that will show. I will keep you posted on how that goes.

Laura - I was nervous too at my first party, but once things got started and I tried to quit memorizing everything all was well! You'll be fine - keep us posted.

Congrats on your start to your new business, Laura~! Oooooh I was so nervous at my first party too!!! Believe me, it does get better. A couple of things that helped me, were to know that it actually benefits you to not do things perfect, because that way your guests can see themselves being able to do what you are doing. That opens the door and can lead to bookings and even recruits!!

It can help to talk with a supportive business mentor before the party as well. Make a date so they are prepared to hear from you just at that moment you need the support! That person can be your sponsor, a teammate, or even someone completely unrelated! Just as long as its someone who you feel supported by.

Last but not least, someone in my support team suggested "playing Vanna" at the parties, essentially filling out nine index cards with a brief paragraph on each, covering all the bases you want to make sure to hit during your presentation. Offer party attendees an extra chance to win a party prize if they are willing to read one of your cards! That way, you won't be able to forget any important points, you can elaborate on the cards once they have been read, or just leave it as is... Once I was no longer worried about memorizing everything, as Robin said, I became so much more comfortable!!

PS I keep referring to them as "Vanna Cards" because you get to play Vanna White as your guest is reading the card, you can be demonstrating what is on the card, or showing the item around the party!

Also its been shown that when party guests are involved in the party they tend to feel that their time is more well spent. When they feel that their time is well spent, they may be more willing to have a party themselves!! Don't quote me on that.....it is not from me, this is a party plan statistic from a direct sales specialist.

I wish you ALL The best and a wonderful prosperous time at your first party, and all the parties that come after that!!!!!

I really like the Vanna Cards idea Claire! How do you award the prize for this participation?

I use the orange contact cards that come in our kits.....the first one I have them fill out completely, but i give them an additional ticket for each question they ask me during the party, for each friend they think of who might be interested in Gold Canyon, and if I ask them to do something...for example, guess how many candy corns in the jar, or read one of my Vanna cards, etc.

At the end of the party I draw two or three names, depending on the size of the party, and let those people choose from my "gift basket" which contains individual car fresheners, votives in tulle baggies, wick dippers, and customer appreciation candles. You could also use tealight samplers and other decorated tealights. This keeps the expense from $2-5 per party for prizes. Depending on the volume of the party and/or who is there....I will sometimes hand out tealight samplers to each guest who did not win a prize.

You can also use just plain roll of tickets....that would be cheaper tickets!!
