Hello,
I scored for Pearson in the winter/spring, and wondered if anyone knew when they'd be sending out availability surveys for the new year. Thanks so much.

I would like to know this too. They sent me an invitation to score with them on a short projecy and I was not able to at the time. I scored with CAHSEE in the summer and I know they should be starting scoring soon, but I have not heard from them.

Hi Laura :)

Can you share more info about scoring for Pearson? I have been on their list at least twice - even sent in all the info and availability surveys they requested - never heard back from them. You are actually the first person I have seen posting in any forum, who actually DID work for them! What was it like? Did they pay well?

Thanks for sharing! :)

I actually heard about from these boards last fall through these boards so I gave it a try. I got offered three different tests, but I only qualified for 1, but they do pay you for training and qualifification tests, even if you do not score for that one. Some of them I found hard to qualify for, The 5th grade reading was the easiest, and I'm hoping to get another similar one. It depends on the test what you'll get paid, but it will never be less than $10/hr. The Arizona 5th grade reading was .18 cents a test and I averaged almost 100 an hr, so I made $18 an hr. If you maintaned 85% validity you got 5 cents more an answer, which bumped me to almost $23 an hr on that test. But other tests are harder to score and wont be as quick.

I heard from Pearson today. If you have an active application, they will be sending their first batch of availabilty surveys in early November.

I scored for them this past spring. My question is, do they re-hire past scorers or do we have to apply again?

They generally contact you if you have scored b/4. In my experience, you do not have to re-apply. I have never had to re-apply with them. But they don't generally get active until around February I think.

Thanks,
I enjoyed working for them; the pay was good, but I wish the work length/time was more than a few weeks.

I forgot to mention that I did get an email from them this past week. They were just verifying my home address; so maybe they are gearing up for another scoring session.

Just saw that they are taking new apps at ACT Writing Test: Readers (http://www.act.org/aap/writing/readers.html)

At the bottom it reads:
"I am also interested in scoring other online writing examinations with ACT. Please send information about how to apply for these opportunities as they become available.

As you continue your application, you will leave ACT's website and enter a site managed by Pearson."

Readers Wanted!
We need qualified people to read and score student essays for the ACT Writing Test.

Essay scoring takes place online, facilitated by an Electronic Performance Evaluation Network (ePEN) System designed by Pearson Educational Measurement. This means you can read and score essays anytime and from any personal workstation with an Internet connection.

Writing Test essays are scored at intervals throughout the year. Compensation will be performance based. Scorers can realize $12/hour or more based on a combination of performance indicators, including quality and rate.

Prospective applicants will have the following qualifications:

A bachelor's degree or higher
Current teaching experience (preferred)
Experience teaching high school English to juniors and seniors (preferred)
U.S. citizenship, resident alien status, or authorized to work in the U.S.
Reside in the U.S.
