View Full Version : On Point @ home ... what's going on?

Is any one here active with on point? I know there is always secrecy shrouded around on point, but i have to ask what's going on?
They said theythey hire on project to project basis I figured that meant if they didn't like your work they could simply not offer you new work and also that if you were a good worker you would get offered new work.
So now everything is quiet. I don't know if I'm to assume that I did not get asked to work a new assignment because of my performance (which i thought was pretty good :) ) or is it because there are no projects at all?
All of the sups have these automated messages on their google chat saying "it is slow we will contact you etc" and I am confused.
I didn't expect this. They said they were busy and given the political climate, and that downtime at the most coule be like a week.
I'm frustrated.

I hope so, I am hurting for money. I haven't heard anything, but I haven't asked. I assume the above poster sent an email inquiry.

As far as I know there are no projects at this time( or just very small ones.) I keep praying that more come up soon. With everything going on today I am also surprised that it is so slow. Hopefully we will all have a new project soon. :)

I am praying that somehow we start next week. Let us pray lol. I love Onpoint and I guess I knew that this was part of the territory. Good luck to everyone and hope you find other eggs.

I heard that they are laying off employees and have no work. So, who really knows what is going on or when they will have work again.
If this is your only egg in your basket I would find another one immediately.
Onpoint is great when they have work, however you cannot count on consistency and when they are laying off employees that have been with the company for more than two years that would indicate to me that they have no work - and probably no substantial work in sight.

Well....it was good while it lasted. This economy sucks!! I think WAH jobs are going to be harder and harder to find. Even though I have a FT job, I still like the PT eggs for some extra $$$.
Good luck to everyone. We can still come to great boards like this to share info and help one another out with job tips.

Dang. I loved working for onpoint. I like talking to people about current issues and the pay was great. Its so sad. Loosing this job really hurt me, I need something comparable in pay.

I wanted so badly to make OP my main egg but just could not because of the inconsistency in work load. I have a nice combination of jobs now that works well for me without the worries of down time with no work. That is what I needed so I am very grateful. It is too bad that OP could not be part of that schedule for me, but honestly the jobs I have now work even better for me than OP did - I never have to work evenings or weekends.
I hope OP works out for those of you who need it - but I would recommend that you have more than OP in your egg basket.

You are absolutely right. I love OP and will stay a contractor with them as long as I can but after the first down time I quickly learned to get plenty of eggs. I have about seven now lol

I would strongly recommend that you go directly to a reliable source (like the person that recruited you or the HR manager) for a true and accurate explanation.
I sent an email on Friday requesting info in reference to the down time, I received a response with EXPLANATION immediately. The explanation made perfect sense and anyone that is aware of the type of work that OPA does will easily understand the reason for the delay in work.:p

Going to a "reliable" source is always a good idea.
I was not trying to discourage anyone from working for OP - Just that I would not recommend that OP be your only egg in the basket as they cannot promise consistent work. They have never made that promise to anyone so this is nothing new.
OP is a great egg to have in your basket... I am simply stating that I would not rely on them for my only egg unless you can afford down time occasionally.

Historically, they've got very sporadic or non-existent this time of year. This is a little early, but generally, Congress quits doing anything of substance a little bit before Thanksgiving & really doesn't get back to work until after the first of the year.
Those advising that you not make this your main job or rely upon it for steady income are quite correct. Good luck!

Some people like the periodic work. I support a family on my own, so I prefer consistent work.
I hope for you, Princess that they get work soon!
