My daughter just turned 24, she's interested in hosting a spa party to celebrate her BD with her friends. She was planning on setting it up herself, I started thinking....there must be a spa party consultant out there somewhere.
Has anyone heard of such a company? It would sure save us time and money!
Thanks!

Hi Cindy -
I am a consultant with BeautiControl. We do at home Spa Escapes. They are fun and very relaxing. This month is a wonderful time to have one. I would be glad to help you anyway I can.

Depends on what she wants and can afford. Of course the BeautiControl,
Mary Kay, Arbonne, etc. will do the party, but I don't know how much they
can do in terms of pampering the girls. Usually at a non-Direct Sales Spa
Party, the girls all have technicians who do their pedicures/manicures/
facials. With the DS ones, I think they each do their own pampering...Unless
things have changed. Perhaps someone could walk us all through how they
work for Arbonne, BeautiControl.Country Bunny, etc...?
Thanks,

Cindy,
Tahitian Noni has Tepoema skin care (https://www.tahitiannoni.com/united_states/english/retail/store/category/23389.html)and Moea spa body care (https://www.tahitiannoni.com/united_states/english/retail/store/category/23390.html). I'm not near you, but we could put together a package and I could guide her through it. Just an idea, I'm a massage therapist and I know some therapists have done parties like this. They usually go and depending on how many guests are there, do 10-20 minute massages each. Like Nondy said, it depends on what exactly she's looking for and what her budget is. Hey...I just gave myself an idea. I should start doing these parties myself with our items. Wow, thanks for getting my wheels spinning, Lisa (Nondy too!). I can do double duty - earn from massage and sell product at the same time. That's why I love this board!
I'm sure she'll have a blast whatever she decides to do!

Beauticontrol is all about pampering and destressing at our Spa Escapes.
At my spas, I offer a facial, hand treatment, lip treatment, eye treatment, neck treatment, and foot treatment. They are all spa treatments you would receive a day spa. We also have a 5-10 relaxation technique to help destress your body. This is taught to all attendees so they can do it daily.

You are allowed to do these treatments on your spa goers? Or, do they do

I was in BeautiControl for a short time and the girls loved</span>
the spa escapes! I would show them destressing exercises, deep
breathing, etc and they were allowed to try some of the
products-botanical eye pads, facial masques, foot creams etc and
experience the warmed neck wraps. They came away relaxed and had fun
too. In CA, we aren't allowed to touch clients if we are not state
licensed, but it didn't seem to matter that I wasn't doing the
procedure to</span> them, they still had a great time, felt relaxed and purchased products afterward!

I feel compelled to make it clear to those who are not familiar with the
companies that come into your home and do "Spa Parties" that are Direct
Sales companies, do a very different thing than what you would get in a
true spa environment.
When a Direct Sales Consultant brings in their Mary Kay, BeautiControl,
Jafra, etc., products, the primary goal of the evening is product sales.
When you book a Spa Party at a salon/spa, you pay a per-person fee, and
the licensed professionals do the treatments on you. You will receive a
robe, slippers, nd they do all of the product application, mssage, body
wrap, manicure, pedicure, etc., and they are paid for their professional
service, rather than product sales being the primary focus of the
evening...
I would feel awful if your daughter booked a spa evening, and didn't get
what she was thinking she would get...
Hope this is helpful,

I believe thatthere must be a spa party consultant out there somewhere implies that she's looking for a direct sales type of person. That's what a lot of we WAHM's are (party consultants), and that's generally the response Cindy is getting. There are day spas and various salons who will do "at home" types of services. I don't think that that is what Cindy was asking......IMO.

Gina,
I think that's where the possible confusion may lay. The daughter was
going to set up a spa party herself, and whether that meant the daughter
as going to get the stuff, and have all the girls work on each other, or
have a DS "Spa Party", or what, was not real clear to me. MOM had the
idea to look for a
spa party consultant... Since they are two different experiences, it needs
to be made clear what the differences are. Especially when I read the
following from a DS consultant:
"At my spas, I offer a facial, hand treatment, lip treatment, eye treatment,
neck treatment, and foot treatment. They are all spa treatments you
would receive a day spa."

Thanks ladies!
I was looking for a consultant. DD can get the stuff and have the girls 'work' on each other, but I thought it would be nice to have a consultant there to guide and supply the product. It would cost quiet a few $$ for DD to get all the supplies. I figured the direct sales party would be a nice way for the girls to get pampered with some quality products and have the opp to buy.
Thanks for all the ideas, I knew there had to be a company or two that has caught on to the spa craze!

There are quite a few companies willing to do "spa parties". If you want a
list
of those who do them, here is a small one:
Mary Kay
BeautiControl
Jafra,
Nu Skin (My old company)
Arbonne
The Body Shop At Home
Sensaria
Country Bunny Bath & Body
Sounds like you are looking for a "Girl's Night In" type of party, which any
of these companies can supply. If funds are an issue, then this is the way
to go. Have a party at home, laugh, and have a great time...
This sounds like a very fun time, but is not to be confused with a real spa
experience. Would you rather give yourself a massage, or have someone
else give you a massage? That's what the difference boils down to...
Knowledge is a good thing, so have fun!

We DO salt scrub the feet and hands if asked to.
Hope that helps... You should try it. You would LOVE it!!

NattiesMother,
Day spa treatments can be quite expensive! A BeautiControl consultant will come to your home free and treat you and your friends to an hour long pampering session.
As stated by some of the others, we do head to toe treatments as well as teach you the importance of destressing. It is very relaxing and a lot of fun!
I have theme parties as well! This Spring I have a dessert, margarita and wacky pajama partybooked!

I have done both, so here is the difference .
When I did Nu Skin "facials", we were not allowed to touch the client. I
don't know of one who would allow their consultants to touch a client. We
would first go to the kitchen or bathroom and start by washing with
Liquid Body Bar (Lovely grapefruit scent), and Liquid Body Lufra to
exfoliate the hands (Lovely minty scent with ground walnut). They woud
get a warm towel to dry their hands, and apply Hand Lotion. Then, off to
the dinng table, where the products were displayed, and according to
basic skin type. Each person has their own table set up, with mirror,
tissues, cotton balls, swabs, etc...everything they need to cleanse their
own faces. As I talked about the different skin types, and made
recommendations, the ladies would apply and wipe off, and so on. The
focus was on product sales, using the in-home format.
When clients go to the spa, here's how that goes. You pay $55-$65 (in
my area of California), and you fill out an intake form. These are not
quite as involved as a doctor's intake fom, but we need to know things
like medications, allergies, lifestyle choices, diet, etc. We need to know
where they have been, and where they want to go with their skin. This
takes about ten minutes. Do they just need a relaxing European Facial?
Do they need an exfoliating peel? Let's say they want an indulgent
European Facial. The client is escorted into a quiet room with quiet music
and candles, and in my case an ionizing salt lamp, and the sound of water
trickling from my fountain. They are instructed to change into a spa
wrap, and asked to make themselves comfortable on the bed. I leave the
room and read the intake form once again, to be sure that what I will be
using is appropriate for them... I quietly enter the room, and the lights
are turned down fairly low. I speak in a quiet, soothing voice, and ask if
she would like a booster under her knees for comfort. She is wrapped in
blankets to keep warm, and is told to let me know if she needs anything
adjusted at any time...I wrap her head in a soft head wrap to keep her hair
off her face, and I then start with a basic cleansing using steam, and,
going from the decollette, to the forehead I apply the cleanser with a soft
brush. I then work to cleanse the skin in a mehtodical, and soothing
motion, with my hands not leaving the skin until I am ready to remove the
ceanser with warm moist towels from my hot towel cabbie. I then do an
enzyme cleanse, and this takes a little longer, to give the enzymes a
chance to eat up dead skin cells. I again remove with warm moist towels.
A good cleanse will take 7-10 minutes. I then apply toner with cotton
balls, which preps the skin for the chosen treatment serum and mask
over the treatment. This step takes 15 minutes, and then the mask is
removed with warm moist towels, and the fun begins! the facial massage
is one of the most incredible things you will experience done rght, and
with care. I apply the massage medium, and for the next ten to fifteen
minutes, massage your decollette, upper arms, upper back and up your
neck and then on to the face. Once I have you limp as a noode (assuming
you aren't asleep by now), I may add another mask after removing the
massage cream/oil, and give your hands a paraffin dip treatment, and
hand and arm massage while the second mask is doing its thing. Second
mask is removed, and nourishing serum is applied, then eye cream and
sunblock. Then the warming mittens are removed from your hands, and
your headband is quietly removed. You are told that you are gorgeous,
but I did mess up your hair. The music, the candles lightly scenting the
space, and the entire ambiance transport you to a quiet place of renewal
and regeneration.Product sales are a natural, and logical outcome of the
facial treatment, since the client wants to coninue, if on a smaller scale
the spa expreience she received... So for an hour and half, I figure I
average a dollar per minute of profit...I won't do more than for facials
per day, because it takes a lot to do one correctly. It' good income, and
repeat customers for my line in the spa...
Both have their place in this world, but I wanted to explain in detail the
differences...

Ultra skin pro, or others
I am curious about this topic, because I have been researching the "no touch" policy most companies have. I was trying to find legal references about it to have on file when I train my new consultants.
It seems like some consultants do touch, and then when I tell my party goers I am not allowed, they are like "well, so and so from this other company did it for me" it makes me look stupid. And in one case,I knew 'so and so'was not a liscensed anything, massage, esthetician, cosmetologist, etc. It just made me wonder if some people just do the touching anyway, or if they just don't know.
So what are the rules and do you all know of any references to support these rules? I want to train my team correctly, and not have them feel they are at a disadvantage if we are not allowed to touch, but other companies are?
Thanks a ton!

I know that Arbonne does not let you touch a client if you are not an
esthetician. Nor does Nu Skin. The insurance liability would not cover
someone not licensed should something go wrong. The company's
insurance liability covers them if a client has an allergic reaction, for
example, but might be voided if an unlicensed consulant administered
the product.
Check with your company to be sure you are following proper procedure
during your parties...

Product sales and skin therapy are two very different things, anet. You
are very wise to do a "features & benefits" type of pesentation, rather than
trying to pretend you know how to do a facial. Just tell them "I am not a
trained skin therapist, and you should not allow anyone to touch you who
is not licensed"... I don't pretend to be a doctor, and I would look foolish
if I were to try. Just so with those who "do" facials, who are not licensed
in their state to do so. They are not trained in myology, histology,
bacteriology, blood borne pathogenic bacterial infections, etc. How tragic
it would be to infect someone by using unsafe facial practices
unknowingly. You are again wise to NOT set yourself up to possible
litigation by practicing something you are not trained in ,or licensed to
do...

anet,
It may vary state-to-state, I'm not sure. Here in FL, no one can lay
hands on another person for money making/business purposes, without
being licensed in a field that would make it appropriate for them to do
so. For example, I'm a licensed massage therapist, so I can perform
massage, and foot & hand treatments, etc. My SIL is a nail tech and
is with BeautiControl. She said they do have the no touch policy. She can</span> apply product because she's licensed, but if she's not in an acutal nail session, she let's the clients do it themselves.
Just another example of the FL "no touch" policy, I am trained in foot
reflexology. Right now, anyone may train in reflexology, but only a
licensed massage therapist (and I think nail techs) can perform the
service for compensation. I hope this helps some. I'll try to find some
documentation you can refer to.

Thanks you guys!
I have not heard specifics from my upline about the policy, and don't remember reading it in the manual. So much to keep track of!!smileys/smiley5.gif
I am just wondering how cut and dried it is, like if I put a scoop of salt scrub on someones hand, I hold on to their wrist to keep their hand steady, know what I mean?? But they then rub their hands together and rinse clean by themselves. I have done foot soaks where they all do their own rubbing and lotioning. It can be hard to rein in that impulse sometimes to just dab a bit here or smooth a bit there. No one seems to mind, but like you said, liability issues are a big thing!
Thanks for the info.
