I am a stay-at-home mom looking for a job. I can't devote a lot of time outside my home due to my husband's busy schedule. I don't have a lot of money to start a business.
Is Homemade Gourmet something that would work for me?

There are SO many ways you can market a Homemade Gourmet business. With any direct sales business, you get out what you what put into it. My head is always spinning with ways to meet new people or to build relationships with current clients to make my reorder business even bigger because our product is so user friendly! It's an amazing company! With HG, just some of the the advantages:
- Consumable product
- You can share with families how to meal-plan and how to save valuable grocery money
- 40% discount
- Very few limitations on how you can market your business. You can even market yourself on-line to people through social networking, home gatherings, on-line catalog shows, fundraisers, craft and vender events, etc.
- Growth potential throughout the United States
- Company grew 29% in sales in 2008-2009 fiscal year (amazing - and very high esp. during a recessional time period)
- People are eating at home more but want delicious food!
The sky is the limit based on your goals and drive.
I have 3 preschoolers and it has been a GREAT opportunity for me to have a rewarding career, make money, earn cool trips (just got back from a 7-day trip), prizes....all while using a product that my kids and family enjoy! I know other women feel the same way!!
Good luck in your decision!!!

Thanks for replying back. I've thought about this and even though everything sounds tempting, I need to say no. I used to sell cosmetics and now that I've gotten out of that business, I just dont think I want to get back into that again. I still have so much inventory that I'm stuck with. A HG rep told me that if I stopped selling HG, I could just eat the inventory. I wish you much success and if I change mymind again, I will let you know. Like I said, it's very tempting. I'm just not sure I'm ready to sell product again.

I totally respect your honest reply.
Yes, you can eat our food. If you are someone who would run mainly a home show business, it is possible to run a super low inventory. I have 2 consultants who have less then $50 any given time - and they order every month! That is the extreme....but it can be done.
I will share that 75% of my unit carry a $200 retail or less inventory.....as it is a business you can run without an inventory - unless you decide to do expos, craft shows, etc. Most of my team do only home gatherings, open houses, and on-line sales - which limit the 'risk' of product inventory and allows them order after the sales are made.
When I was without another company over 9 years ago, I had over $4000 retail in stock! I STILL have items left:) Proud to say, I learned from that and definitely do nto have that issue as our product has quick delivery and I order mostly after the sales unless I have events that require cash & carry.
I always consider our product a way to supplement a grocery budget - so carrying a small inventory is not a burden. With any direct sales company, it is important to have good business judgement and a business plan in deciding how much to carry and ways to market a business. I know too many people that have run into that issue in the past.
I hope you have a WONDERFUL fall season!!
Thanks for sharing! Something to make sure we are conscious of this issue so we can help everyone a smart business.
