I saw a statement in another thread and I was floored...The rep was basically saying how drawing slips are a waste of time and money. She wants people that are intersted in her product and not just to enter for a free item. I think she is leaving money on the table
I have gotten tons of customers, 3 new team members, fundraisers ect from my drawing box and other "give aways" I have made up at events and at my booth....I feel they are part of any retailers lifeblood.
I put drawing slip entries into my email list (it states that on the slip)....and I have gotten tons of reorders that way.
Plus, if you are helping a customer I say, "please fill out a slip for a drawing...I'll be right with you".
Let me know your thoughts...

I can see where the rep is coming from, but she's also missing an important point. It's about getting your name, product and/or business opportunity out there, as well as generating customer/rep leads. It's not like you're actually handing out free jars.

I have out 6 drawing boxes, and while I don't generate sales from many, I do get some long term customers from them. I get a lot of interest and collect a lot of leads from them. I've even had people from two years ago that weren't purchasing, but because they see I'm still around, they have started buying now. So, while I can understand the other person's point of view, I think it benefits us in the long run.

If I"m doing a show, party, event, expo, whatever, I have a box out. I think it's worth my time, which basically isn't any time at all. ;) It's a passive way to collect names and info.

What is a more amazing way to let someone fill in some blanks and possible check that they'd like a party or info on the opportunity?

Some people are too shy to ask and hiding behind the guise of a little piece of paper gives them that wee bit of confidence to ask something they may not have the courage to otherwise ask!

They are a HUGE asset to this business, I love them!

I don't use the slips offered by the company, I've made my own. It has name; phone number; email; then a checkbox section asking if they want to host a party; learn more about becoming a distributor; do a fundraiser.

When you do this, what do you offer for the drawing? I've done a gift basket and if it's a smaller event a 16 oz. jar candle.

I love the idea of helping to grow your e-mail list with the drawing slips -- that's excellent! :)

I have a question about the drawing boxes for all who are using them, are you displaying these in business only with your business cards and or catalogs only. Or are you combining this with a loaner jar or melt/warmer. or display of a few jars.

For those using a display with jar, are you also using the disclaimer as per the TOS of the company thank you

All of the places I have boxes out, the businesses cannot burn the candle (because of insurance). I have offered to leave a simmer pot with melts and most prefer to not have it. Many don't want the responsibility of having to 'watch' the jar or simmer pot so nobody steals it if I leave one with the box. So, I just leave the box, business cards with scent samples attached, and 5 catalogs at each location. Keep in mind, each business is different and they may or may not allow you to burn the candle or have the scent simmer pot, but always ask! I usually give them a free jar candle for allowing me to have the box there, or I pull a name out of the box each month and give that person a $10 gift certificate to use at that place of business. I get many leads this way. good luck
