Hi! I'm new here, and relatively new to the business. (My start month was Jan) I started out thinking I'd do this business small scale...for a few extra dollars here and there. BUT, the opportunity is just TOO GOOD, so I decided to give it all I have. I have loved reading at this board...you all are so wonderful!

I have a customer asking how the Self Tanner is. I haven't tried any of the sun care line, so I can't help her out, other than saying all of the products I have tried have been EXCELLENT. Does anyone have any experience with the self tanner? Thanks!!

I have not personally tried it, it's on order, but another consultant in my team has and she LOVES it. She doesn't look orange or anything neither. I actually thought it was her natural skin tone when I seen her.

Heidi,

I have been using it for a while, and I LOVE it. People noticed my skin right away! I'd say buy it. It makes you look so healthy. It's a great sell at presentations!smileys/smiley2.gif Heidi M

My daughter and I both use it and it's wonderful! It is a very healthy, natural color!!

I have used it for years.. LOVE IT. I am very fair and this is great. It doesn't have a bad smell like some. Doesn't leave strikes... which is caused by dry skin and ours doesn't dry you out. You can get dark spots the first couple of times till you learn to do it right.. lemon juice helps those places.. Washyour hands a lot or wear some sort ofgloves to put it on otherwise your hands look a little dark.It has a great color not orange. I makes me look healthy.

Hope that helps!!!

Jennifer- I used to tan - b/c that was the only thing I had found over the years to help make my keratosis palaris (those horrible little bumps on your arms!) look better- well have a new weapon the body serum and lotion! my arms look like a million bucks- so I want to give the tanner a try- that too will be going in on my order later today! I too had several precancerous moles( one on my neck, one on my breast and one on my stomach) removed ( 2 years ago) and still that year and last year was in a tanning bed!

***Question to those of you who have been with the company for awhile- is it hard to sell the sets? I ask since I have never been one to purchase self tanners and all that! and to me the price would freak me out- will pay that for my skin cleanser etc but have never splurged like that for tanning- any tips for selling or what you have found successful would be great-

I have only sold one complete set and that was to a family of 6 going on a 2 week caribbean vacation. They didn't want the self tanner at first but then the Mrs of the family said she thought it would be great for blending in tan lines from the swimsuit she has with the thicker straps. I don't know how that worked out for her, I didn't check her tan lines when they returnedsmileys/smiley17.gif, but nobody got burned except Mr skeptic on the first day (lesson learned), and he didn't peel (used the aftersun).

There's a gal on my team in Florida who has sold a bunch of these sets.

Don't forget too, that you tend to sell more of what you love.

About the self-tanner, I love it! I do have to say though, that it WILL streak/stripe if you are not careful and you apply it streaky. Take your time and be sure you apply it evenly.Edited by: cassandra

Leah,

My daughter has keratosis pyloris (sp?) - white bumps on her arms. Her dermatologist sold us some product, & it did NOTHING! Do you use the Re9 body serum & Re9 body lotion? Do you use a poof to scrub with (Derm's recommendation), or what?I had just resigned to having to live with it because nothing works. Now, I have hope! Especially since Arbonne products have worked wonders for her eczema, when even prescriptions failed.

Thanks in advance!

My 25 yr old daughter has these and swears by the sea salt scrub followed by Ginger Citrus Body Butter. She told me last night that she does use the poof to scrub with also.

Sharon- yes I started using the body serum and lotion a little over a wk ago - I also use the body wash - I alternate using my orange puff and then one of those buff puffs( derm had recommeded using those -get at Walmart)- I alsouse a couple times a wk the bath salts- all of this together has made such a huge difference- mine was severe! I did not like even wearing short sleeve tshirts cause I felt so self conscious! But I am ordered the new tank top in logo products to show off my arms-

I have over the course of the past 20 yrs(should say my parents -when I was at home -andme during that time have spent a small fortune at the derm office---my 4 yr old also has "bad skin"- I have started using the abc line on her (so glad the wash is back!) and her skin is looking so much better! My plans are to schedule an appt with my derm- who has all this time said- the KP will never go away but al these creams, lotions and soaps will help keep it under control and manageable-- well I plan on going in and showing him my arms and seeing what he has to say! I think it will be worth the cost of a visit!

Can you use the self tanner on your face or is it just for the body? I'm worried it may make me breakout, has anyone had this happen?

Thanks,

I must be the odd ball here, because the self tanner dried out my skin.
I was kind of bummed out because I love the color that is creates and
the fact that is doesn't smell bad, but after a day my skin feels dry
and itchy even if I follow with the anti-aging body care set or sea
salt scrub and lotion. I've tried every combo possible to "soften" my
skin after application. At first it feels ok, but the next day my skin
itches like crazy! Any tips? Or is there possibly something in it that
my skin reacts too?

I use it on my face. I spray it on my hands and rub it in. Don't forget to wash your hands after so your palms don't get super dark!

Cheryl,

I don't know if this will help, but I always exfoliate before I use the self tanner. Sea Salt Scrub for the body and facial scrub on my face. I find it helps the color last longer. I've never had a problem with dryness from it. But I do moistureize like a fiend on a regular basis becasue I tend to be dry anyway.

HTH!

I am very dry and use the self tanner.. I also use the Liquid Sunshine, Tan Enhancer if I start to feel dry or itch after. I usually don't but have once or twice. The Tan Enhancer helps the Self Tanner and gives me a little sun screen. Just a thought.

How often do you all use the tanning product? I tried once over a period of time and think I was using it too much. I LOVED my color but then the creases of my arms (where my arm bends) started flaking/loosing the color. Then I was left with 2 large white patches where my arms bend and the rest of my arms where tan. I figured I had used it too often but haven't tried again out of fear that I'd wind up with white patches again. I too, used a sea salt scrub first then followed with the Tan Enhancer after applying the self-tanner. Did I just use it wrong or should I be doing something different??

Thanks for your help!!!

Ok, so I used the self-tanner for the first time yesterday and I really like it!!!!! I am very particular about self-tanner and I have used the same brand for 8 years because it is so natural looking. I was hoping that ours would do as good of a job as the otherso I could switch over...and it does! YAY!

I have been using the Self Tanner for 2 years and really like it alot!

With any self tanner it is Very important to exfoliate and moisturize. Otherwise you can become streaky or dry.

I spray on once my moisturizer is dry and have wonderful results.

I just received this product tonight. I now need step by step instruction. :)

Did you guys say to exfoliate first, then moisturize, THEN apply?

Also...when you exfoliate with the sea salt scrub, it leaves you REALLY moisturized...(kinda oily) ... Is that okay to use, then dry off, then apply the tanning product?

thanks in advance for your help!

Any time I use the Sea Salt, I follow with a cleanser. If it's just my hands, I use the cleansing gel after and if I have used the Sea Salt Scrub in the shower, I follow with the RE9 foaming body wash.

Hope, I would just rinse the sea scrub off and then towel dry. Should be moisturized just enough, like you said. Then apply the self tanner. It will take a couple of times before you get a nice tan going and then maintaining it every couple of days.

On my first application I always put on two coats and then spray on the next day again. Should be enough base to last a couple of days. The spray is much easier to me than a creme base.

After rubbing it in really good, just wash your hand off with soap and you will not have yellow hands. I never had a problem with that.

Instead of putting on my face, I just wear arbonnes face andbody sun lotion, then use arbonnesfoundation--- lightly which has an SPF in it too then in the summer, top it off with the the face glow powder we sell. The tanning spray irritates my face and eyes, plus it drys it out too.

Hope that helps....Oh and make sure you shake the bottle really well before spraying.

Have fun tanningsmileys/smiley2.gif

I was referring to the "almost oily" that was referred to in the earlier post. If I don't use a cleanser to was after the Sea Salt Scrub, it seems very oily, water beads up on my skin. Does this not happen to others? Would it be okay to apply the tanner over that? I just got mine in a shipment last week also and want to try my best to have it go on properly.

TIA for any help!

I never tried the tan enhancer before, but I did exfoliate before and
have used sea salt scrub, moisturizer etc. Tan enhancer could be the
ticket! Thanks!

I always cleanse after the Sea Salts or I feel to oily. I use the Re9 wash or Cleansing Gel (or aromatherpies unwind...smileys/smiley4.gif) I don't think I would like to use the self tanner on top. Just my oppion.. Has anyone done that.

I agree with you, I probably wouldn't put the tanner on top of the SSS either. How bout if we use just the orange poof to exfoiate with the body wash, then apply the tanner?

dkdummermuth
03-06-2006, 05:35 AM
I do that a lot. I either use the sea salts and then the body wash with the poof and then self tanner or I just wash (w/poof) and self tanner. Iuse the sea salts a lot but with the oily feel I don't think I would not wash between. Just me thoughts.

Thanks, that was my feeling. I wouldn't want to take a chance that it wouldn't penetrate with the oiliness on my skin.
