My favorite quote of all time is from the old movie Auntie Mame:
"Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death."
I think this says a lot. I try to live by it.

If you'll try your very hardest and above all else Believe,
Believe that you're a person who has something Good to Give,
Believe that you can make this world a Better Place to Live.
If you'll believe in your talents and your skills are needed, too
Then you're sure to find there's nothing in this world you cannot do."
This was from a card given to me ages ago, could be a hallmark, not sure.
Anyway, it stuck with me up to now. And I'm glad it did! :)

A non-doer is very often a critic-that is, someone who sits back and watches doers, and then
waxes philosophically about how the doers are doing. It's easy to be a critic, but being a doer
requires effort, risk, and change. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

I have several ~ mostly ones that set us free or make us think:
Here is one - simple but is good.
It just is what it is.
Let your past be your teacher and not your judge.
Where ever you are, be all there, if you believe it to be the will of God for your life.
and finally,
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations." - George Bernard Shaw

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the know...ledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

I have lots of quotes that I love but here are just a couple:
Create the life you dream of, why on earth would you waste time creating the one you don't want?
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
Failures are an asset, they teach you what you need to learn in order to have success!
If you cannot manage one dollar why on earth would you expect to be trusted with millions?
Money does not define class, character does.
I better stop..........I could go on with this forever so here is my last one.......
Life is not a journey to take lightly, it is a journey you should jump into with everything you've got because in the end, the journey was your life!

I hope I am not butchering this quote, but here it is as best as I can remember it:
It's from a scene in the movie Chariots of Fire one of the characters feels called to the mission field and is under some pressure to quit his journey to the Olympics and get on with his mission work, here is his response to someone telling him to get to China and forget this Olympic business:
"I know God called me to China, but He also made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure."
I use that a lot in my classroom with my students on various occasions. And I just like it!
Sorry for the long explanation.
Melissa
It's from a scene in the movie Chariots of Fire one of the characters feels called to the mission field and is under some pressure to quit his journey to the Olympics and get on with his mission work, here is his response to someone telling him to get to China and forget this Olympic business:
"I know God called me to China, but He also made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure."
I use that a lot in my classroom with my students on various occasions. And I just like it!
Sorry for the long explanation.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away.

i believe in the saying 'try and try until you succeed!'. in life you have to do everything to get what you really wanted...you have to believe and strive harder for you to become successful...always remember that by doing your best you will always get what you deserve...

A former co-worker had this bumper sticker so I saw it almost everyday:
"Dont believe everything you think."
I love it, because people jump to conclusions too quick without finding out the facts.
I love that one! Got to add it to my list of favorites!
One of MY favorite quotes:
"The purpose of life is not to arrive safely at death." (by Alan Cohen)

Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

Then there will be no failure.*

My favorite quote is
The purpose of life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather, to slide in sideways, completely used up, yelling whoa, what a ride - author unknown.
I just love this one!!!
