I mean this in the nicest way possible, but if you're going to start a business like this you might want to find a better looking more professional template for your site. Also, you might want to work on getting higher quality screen shots of the templates you provide, or better yet provide working demos of them. Also, your pricing seems a little high for what you do, and without an explanation to a potential client of why they should go with you over one of these other options

1. Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates. (http://www.oswd.org/) Open Source Web Design. Free open source templates that look like the ones you're offering for $200+
2. An inexpensive designer who will create a custom professional layout at the same price point. When I started out, and from time to time, I still charge in the $250-$300 range for not only a design but coding (html, css, PHP, MySQL, etc.)
3. WooThemes|Premium WordPress Themes (http://www.woothemes.com/) inexpensive yet incredibly good looking WordPress themes they can easily install themselves.

Hope you don't take offense to my post, I'm just trying to be helpful.

I have to agree with the poster who gave you advice about your site.

What you seem to be offering is the work of basically posting information into a template which is fine, but I wouldn't call it web design.

If you'd like to learn about Wordpress read my newest post on VA moms site listed below, there is an awesome wordpress orientation that could help you a lot.

My clients are happy with my work but thank you for the unsolicited criticism. I'm fully aware of the improvements that can be made to the site's graphics however considering I don't have the funds to develop my side hustle, guess I'll have to start from the beginning. Here's an example of one of my sites that is a live site that is on my portfolio page. (Small Smiles Daycare - Home (http://www.smallsmilesdaycare.com)) I never said I was a web developer but if I value my experience as a web designer then who are you to define me and my work as otherwise. Don't like the service I'm offering, then move on. But it's not very polite to down someone's work on a forum such as this one when they are simply just looking to freelance their work to survive. This network is supposed to support each other in what we do, not critique each other's work unless asked for an opinion. As for "please don't take offense". I do, because your comments may have cost me the chance to earn a living on here.

Thank you and good luck with your venture.

Unfortunately, when you post on a public forum you don't always get what you're looking for in replies

Instead of trying to help they could have told you that advertising on this forum is against the rules

From where I sit, they were being nice

Nice, and helpful. Thanks for backing me up tenXmom (I also didn't know it was against the forum rules :-P ).

Sorry you think I "cost you a living" (I don't think there's enough business on here for that, try your local craigslist), and yes the network is supposed to support each other, which I was trying to do. If you can get more clients by providing a better first impression then wouldn't that be a good thing? I'm supporting you by saying "Hey, if you make a couple of changes then you'll have a better web presence." But if you don't want some helpful constructive criticism then so be it, I won't make anymore comments about your website. I'll sit here and hope clients come to me for business instead :-P (hey, we both have a business right, that's life)

I have to say I'm a little disappointed to see that this whole thread hasn't been removed yet since it is clearly an advertisement that doesnt belong in this area of the forum. There is a section for folks to post their own business advertisements and you also have the ability to add a signature line to your posts here to advertise your business.

There are a LOT of us that freelance and this forum (IMHO) was not designed to help you locate work, but rather to help provide resources, including other people, that also work from home. So if you've come here looking for work, you're probably not going to find it.

I've found several WAH jobs from leads on this forum and I have been VERY happy with the information that I've found here. Not one has been a lead for a graphic or web design job, which is what I am business to do ;)
