Hi everyone! I'm completely new to this forum, but I've read a bunch. I am looking into making soy candles for myself, gifts, and eventually to sell. PLus, I have a 12 yr old dd who would love to do this too. I think it's great that she wants to start this type of project! Anyway, I've looked at Candle Wealth and it is a bit too pricey I think to start it up as just a "hobby", but then again I don't know much about how much these things cost. Can you get similar supplies elsewhere for comparable prices? I'm not looking to start a business, I already have one that I love smileys/smiley2.gif. Mostly I'm looking into it to get my daughter involved with it and I know that she eventually wants to sell them at places like craft fairs and flea markets, etc.

Thanks for all your help and info!

Ok, I'm biased! But, I would like to add my thoughts on this. I purchased a sample kit through CW that cost $39.95 as a free associate. It comes with everything you need to make candles. You can stay a free associate and buy product if and when you want.

Right now, I am not actively buildingmy team, but I am making/selling candles like crazy. So, for me, it made sense to buy a bigger kit. But, I started out as a free associate and bought when I wanted.

Candle Wealth is just like any candle supplier. The only difference is the option to earn: if you choose.

Candle-Making Sample Pack includes: small wax pourer, and instructions. Candle supplies include: 2 lbs. NVSoy Wax, 2 tin containers, 1 glass container, 2 fragrances – 1 oz. each, 6 NVSoy color chips, 6 each (premium wicks, wick stickers, wick holders and caution labels), 6 assorted tealight containers and 6 tealight wicks. Marketing materials include: 1 Living Light newsletter and 1 Insta-Candle.

I will add in my two cents here since I am pretty familiar with CandleWealth and also make my own candles. The kit you buy from CandleWealth for 39.95 is actually evenpretty priceyif you compare it to other similar kits.

I wasvery seriouslyconsidering joining CandleWealth because once I started making soy candles, I realized how easy they are to sell, how simple they are to make, and how much fun it is! But the prices on their kits was the one thing that I just was not very comfortable with. The second thing was that I wanted to build a business with a team and a residual income and their compensation plan is just way too totally complicated and confusing, plus they keep changing it.

Really, they tell you when you join as a CandleMaster for example that you are paying for your kit, but that kit is NOT worth 500.00. You are basically paying to get into the business, and paying for the bonuses that people get to sign you up. That is what you are paying for.

It seems like there are some people who are really having some great success with CandleWealth. For me personally these issues just raised red flags and I didn't jump in.

If you join CandleWealth, you will definitely get a lot of support on how to make your candles! I have been able to have access to all that since I joined as a free associate. They have already done so much of the testing that is involved with making soy candles, like which wicks to use with which scents and containers and things like that. Also they have fragrance oils that they know already work really well in their wax, so you do not have to waste time and money experimenting with that either.

If you want to build a long-term business I would say that CandleWealth might be a good choice but if you just want to do this as a hobby I would recommend you do your research first, especially if you sign upas a CandleMaker or Master and get on autoship. I would be a little careful too of making a long-term committment with them because they are so new.

Theplace to read is about making candles on your own (that I have ever found at least) is www.candletech.com (http://www.candletech.com).

Anotherwell known company that sells soy wax and fragrance oils for soy is www.mcsoywax.com (http://www.mcsoywax.com). Compare the prices for their kits and supplies and you will see what I mean about CandleWealth's being expensive. There areother companies too, which you can find if you search or read at CandleTech...that's just an example of one that seems pretty popular.

Just my opinion from the things I have learned...sorry so long but HTH! Good luck with your decision!

I would do CandleWealth's products anyday not just because of the opportunity to make long term residual income OR the awesome opportunity to get referral bonuses as a free associate, but because of the superiority of the product. I have tried other waxes and fragrances, and nothing compares to the integrity of the product.

Yes, I would agree with you on that one from the other soy waxes I have tried. And just ordering the products on their own is pretty reasonable too. I think the InstaCandles are great too...and they are not expensive.

I hope I did not offend anyone...did not mean to be overly negative about a company that I know is very proud of their products!

This is the exact reason I joined CW. I had begun testing and testing, but I never found the right winning combination. It is the main reason I tried CW. Once I tried the wax, I was sold!

I will disagree with you on CW being more expensive. If I had signed up with CW in the first place, I would have saved myself well over $300 in supplies. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

You did not offend anyone. The OP asked for opinions and that is what each of us provided. No hurt feelings! smileys/smiley4.gif

yes, I love the network of support and information that CW has to offer as well. I'd be lost with my candle making business w/out it!

Wellll...I guess you *could* have easily spent that much wasting money on trying things that did not meet your expectations...you have a point there too. I do know it's easy toend up wastinga lot of moneywhen you don'treally know what you are doing yet, or what is good "candle making stuff" and what's not.

I guess I was looking at it from just a supply point of view. Like with a $40 kit you should get a lot more than 3.00 worth or 2 lbs. of wax with it.

You have pretty candles BTW! :-)

I appreciate all the advice! I did sign up as a FREE member under tranquilityrose for Candle Wealth. Not for the business part of it, I can't take that on right now, lol. But, I like the assortment of things they have at reasonable prices. I also found a company called Bitter Creek that has some great stuff too.

Thanks again for all your tips and advice. I will be looking into all the info you posted smileys/smiley1.gif.

My opinion is that you don't have to join a company to find the right kind of soy wax to use.If you would like to know the right wax to use, simply PM me.
