I am a daycare provider, as well as a representative with Demarle At Home. I will have a booth this weekend at a daycare conference and am looking for ideas. One of my bigger concerns is not passing out lots of catalogs to those that won't use them (and wasting my $'s)!I have made a hand-out with my information and the website info. to pass out. These ladies will be from all over the state, so I can have them pay the minimum shipping charge and have it shipped to their home. If they are real close, I may give them a day that they can come and pick-up the items.

I would like to hear some ideas for conferences, especially on whether you pass out catalogs, business cards...

Hi Laurie!

You're right, handing out catalogs can get expensive!Have you thoughtabout holding a free drawing or having people sign up to be on your mailing list? This way you have their info before you give them the catalog, and you can follow up with them.

You can also have a coupon with your handouts. Something like if they order over X amount of product, they geta certain % off or free shipping with coupon.

Talk to the other tables too, it's a great way to network!

Also, have fun! It's contageous!

I'll be attending my very first craft fair this weekend and I plan to pass out business cards, they can purchase through my website, so I am hoping that will work. I'll also have some handouts but I don't want to put too much $$ into catalogs for my first show. I would like to book parties and sell through the website.

I understand your dilemma. My favorite thing to hand out is OLD catalogs. www.thebooster.com (http://www.thebooster.com) has a great poem you can put on any kind of label and stick on the front of them. Great way to use up old catalogs too. Plus our company lets you get the old ones from them usually for no charge, just the shipping. That's especially nice. One thing I do though, is not to have out more than 3 catalogs at a time. Most people think that's all you have with you and won't ask unless they are very interested. I kind of "feel them out" a bit before offering a catalog. If I think they're going to book (usually I have a drawing to get names and watch as they fill out the card to see what they put on it) then they get a catalog if not then I don't offer anything unless they ask, then I'm not stingy, they get one. While you don't want to "break the bank" on catalogs people will NEVER look at you certainly don't want to appear like you won't give them a catalog either. Those who ask should be given one, but only have a few out to look at, at one time then they won't think you're giving away willy-nilly. Also, consider taking one of your catalogs apart, putting into page protectors and then into a 3-ring binder. This is really nice for people to browse while they're at your booth. If they really like what they see in your display and in the catalog (prices included) then they may ask. I've come to realize that everyone likes freebies, but most are not willing to ask for it. I've done a booth at a county fair for 9 years and these are just some things I've learned that work.
