smileys/smiley5.gifwe really need to be very generic then, no product names specified, never mention the A. word....

So does that mean that we can never mention the "A" word or any of A's
products on this board? Nor can we mention anything ragarding A's
opportunity, successplan, etc etc etc etc???

Personally I think its really big-brother-ish!
Don't get me wrong. I love this company. I'm proud to be a part of it. But the way I read this, what we are doing is non-compliant becasue we talk about arbonne products and our businesses. (unless I'm not understanding what he's saying, which is entirely possible!).
I'm hoping this whole thing will calm down. It seems like the compliance team is trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon! If they can't stop sales on Ebay, they certainly can't stop people from making any mention of Arbonne anywhere on the internet!

Well they will never be able to stop sales on ebay, becuase some of the
people on there aren't arbonne consultants. I do know they have a team
of people (or so ive heard) that browses ebay and has access to the
names on the sellers accounts to see if any of them are consultants,
and they are warned.
But I agree with you, I dont understand their reasonings behind all this.

I am still talking with Jonathan and I am also going to talk to some higher-ups in the business because I want to file a complaint with them and get their reasoning and also give them mine. I know that they have really good reasons for what they do and the policies that they have in place but I also want to help them to see some things if possible. I will keep you updated.

I can understand their reasoning if they want to control the info out there for the general public. If someone searched Arbonne, they want to make sure the sites that come up on the search engine are approved sites, where the info can be monitored. Whether or not that content is actually monitored is another story. I know they did the big sweep in December to check compliance, but my first search of arbonne + oprah got these:
Check out a new book called "The Gift" by Dr. Shad Helmstetter in books stores this November. He selected Arbonne to write about due to our awesome program and people:) We really can touch lives with Arbonne....He will promote his book on Oprah around January.
The Gift is scheduled for release September 1. It will initially be available to Arbonne Consultants only, and will be released to the mass market on November 1. When the book is presented on the Oprah Winfrey show, women around the country and the world are going to sit up and take notice. NOW is really an exciting time to be in Arbonne.
Dr. Shad Helmstetter's new book "The Gift", is about our company, will be released in November. All Arbonne Consultants get the pre-release discount. Dr. Helmstetter is a world reknown author, motivational speaker and teacher, he will be on the Oprah show talking about his new book and -- you guessed right, he will be talking to Oprah about Arbonne too!
I think that kind of misinformation and deceptive name dropping does a lot more harm to our image than us talking and sharing ideas here.
Also, if we as consultants can't repsond to false accusations on the anti arbonne sites, a lot of people could be misled by those as well. Not that I have time to worry about the masses, I need to focus on my little corner of the world and building my own team. I justhope weare all on a level playing field...

It really is too bad that they got rid of the forum through the company
website. Consultants love to chat with each other to exchange
ideas and get questions answered, but they even shut that one down too
and it was moderated by them wasn't it? I have mixed feelings about
this. So much misinformation is out there regarding alot of the DS
companies. The companies are being slandered by disgruntled
consultants. No one will be able to stop that, but why punish the
consultants that just want to share ideas and ask opinions of product
results etc?
On the other hand, it will force those who do post about the company to
be entirely forthright with their information. I think The Body Shop At
Home places the same internet restrictions on their consultants.

Well, I have already sent an email letting them know I feel they are treating us like children. I understand to some extent why they want to control it, but it can't be controlled. All they will be doing is stopping us consultants from talking about the positive side. There will always be people talking negative, and do we really want that to be the only information clients and seekers will find??? I also asked them to bring back the forum on the home page. I think everyone should call or send an email and speak their mind.
I don't know how we can continue here w/o mentioning our name and product name. Its gonna be hard when someone writes and asked for a product for aging, and we have to speak in code...smileys/smiley5.gif
CONTACT OUR COMPANY AND TELL THEM HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS!

I agree, Jennifer. I think a private board for our consultants would be terrific. I wonder if Cheryl could make us invisible?<!--

May an "outsider" perhaps offer some help? How about if you folks had a
strictly password protected site where you all could just jolly well speak
your minds? Does such a thing exist? I am not particularly technoSaavy
myself, but I know that there are sites like that available by membersip
only/exclusively...
And speaking also as an outsider, I realize a few things.
#1. You all are independent contractors, not employees. I would think
that as long as you are very clear about expressing your views as an
independent consultant, and NOT a compay employee or officer, that
would be okay?
#2. On the plus side of being an outsider, I can say whatever I want
about Arbonne, or Mary Kay, or any other company I am NOT a rep for,
and you would not be able to respond with your facts, and that just does
not seem right to me.
I'll butt-out now...
All my best to you all,
Nondy

UltraSkin-
The site that most of us were speaking of was for consultants only. You had to prove you were a consultant to join. I think that is what you might be thinking of.
Either way, I think we are in for it. It would be much easier if A****** would put the BB back up on their own site.
cindi- I deleted my post as well.

Butting back in...
I don't know, you guys. I can understand both sides, I guess, but as I said
before, as long as you are clear that you are representing yourSELVES as
indepedent consultants, and not Arbonne, the cmpany, they should not have
a problem with what you say.
I got a call yesterday saying that my 888 message sounded like I was with
TOHE corporate, and after listening to it (Which I haven't done in two
months), I had to agree with them, so I changed my message to make it
clear that I am an independent consultant... oh well,

So we can't even talk with ONLY reps on the boards. Like if we were to do a secure site or something? I never knew they used to have a forum on the website. That just seems stupid because everybody talks about it face to face with a person, what's the difference?

OK guys, I'm going to say something that may not be very popular for various reasons but I'm going to say it anyway. And believe me, I understand why people are upset about all this, I have my issues with it as well. I already discussed in another thread why boards are so valuable to us.
How about if we all step back for a second & try to take our emotions out of it? Yes, we are in business for ourselves but not by ourselves. That kind of works both ways. By that I mean what we do & say affects all of the IC's in the company as well as the company itself.
I know I am not an expert in the laws for NWM, I just know some of them vaguely. (enough to be dangerous probably, lol) Since I am ignorant of some of it I am going to have to rely on Arbonne's policy & procedures to keep me from saying/doing something wrong which could hurt my business as well as everyone elses. Forget reputation of our company (which is very important) but let's think about sue happy this country is...doesn't take much for people nowadays. So I've got to give up some of the freedoms regular businessowners have in order to protect myself. That means deferring to their rules, which I agreed to from the start. These rules aren't new, they've been in the manual for as long as I've been withthe company& probably longer.
I may not understand why I can't type the name of a product on a website & I may not like it. But I have to know that the company I represent is not unreasonable so I have to assume they know what they are doing in that regard. I also have to realize that in order for them to try to control the people who would endanger us all they have to try to control all of us equally, even those of us who are "harmless", in the process. The company has grown way too much for them to sort it all out so instead they have to do blanket rules.
Also, have you ever known this company to be anything but generous to their ICs? They go out of their way to keep us happy as well us give us the things we need to be successful. They ask for our feedback on things & actually listen to it if possible. So do you really think that the company is wanting to be unreasonable & mean to us? I don't. They have known about all these boards for a long time. It's just that now the company has grown so much that they have to crack down more, I don't think they have a choice.
Lastly, why do you come to the boards? Is it to promote your business & find business builders? You can go into other folders for that. Not like we had more than a few people wonder in here on their own so that's not a productive use of this folder in my opinion. Or is it for the support of all the other consultants here. To get ideas & feedback. Share in the sisterhood we all have. I realize it's a little bit of both but if it's mostly for the support then that doesn't change just b/c you can't say the name of the company or a product. Yes, it's a little bit more of a pain in the bottom but such is life.
If you really want to be able to talk freely & have the support then email home office & tell them we want to chat room & message boards back up. Tell them why it's important to you. They were trying to find ways around the issues they had & were open to re-opening if they could. Perhaps they'll revisit it if they know how important they are to us. I'm sure they don't realize what a help it was to us.
http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gifok, off my soap box now. And please don't think that I don't agree with those of you who are upset. I just have to look at it from the other side too & can understand it.
