If you want to write online and make money find a site which pays residual income because you may find some article earn hundreds of dollars throughout the year instead of just getting a measly 2-4 bucks per articles.
Some good sites are:
firehow.com
bukisa.com

I agree. You can also added Associated Content - associatedcontent.com (http://associatedcontent.com) and Helium - Where Knowledge Rules (http://helium.com) to this list.

I agree, there are places out there where you get paid better but let's stay fair. There are thousands of writers out there competing against each other and the better the pay the stronger the competition. It's very difficult to build a name as a writer and get high paying jobs today. Also, most providers do not have enough ongoing work. Not mentioning that there are many providers who are simply not keeping their promise and don't pay what was agreed or don't pay at all.
So what does it bring you to find a job that pays $20 an article but you just get 5 articles to write and then have to chase the next customer? How much time do you spend to find a new customer. And how long will it take?
I'm not competing with other providers. I'm flooded with customer orders, I have tons of work and it is ongoing. I'm doing that since a year and every single month I get more customer orders.
With me you just log in to your personal board, pick as much work you can or want and make money without headaches. Every day.
I ask you, how much is that worth? For may writers this is worth a lot. I know that some think differently, but again, I can't please them all.
I have many writers that are with me since a year now and just doing their job and making an extra $500 or $1000 a month. They know they get their pay every Friday without discussion. What's wrong with that?

I write full-time and can honestly say that I don't know very many people, if any, who are willing to write for less than 1c per word.

I agree the pay is horrible, but it might be better than nothing for someone out there.

I totally agree. There are plenty of other content sites that pay at least $.01 a word. Try things like Textbroker over this pay. If you have the time to invest a couple of hours, there are plenty of writing jobs available if you just know where to look and they pay a lot more than something like this and will also pay you on time.

I have to agree with the majority and say that the pay is insulting. If you look, there are places that pay $10-$20 per article for similar word counts. There is plenty of work available.

I write only for myself, so it's not really my business, I suppose, but I still can't resist mentioning that you can make more money picking up coins in the street (and get some fresh air, too) than you can writing 300 words for $2. These people have evidently not heard of the minimum wage. I'm not surprised they have so much work available, at those prices!
Just my two cents (used to be worth three cents but there's a recession on, you know).

Hi, Richard! Yes, let's be fair! I just wanted to share my experience. Years ago, when my family was about to go under and we had to do everything we could to keep our house and get rid of the debt that was taking us under, I took a writing job like this. The pay was similar, but the owner gave me as many articles as I wanted per week and always paid on time. Maybe it wasn't a fortune, but it was enough to help put food on the table, and there's NOTHING wrong with that! When we're struggling, a job like this can be heaven-sent!
I know there are those of you who disagree with me, but this job could help someone and we really need to stop offending employers who come to wahm.com with their offerings. I've worked jobs where I was paid about $2.00 an hour, but you know what, that job helped save my family from going under, too! With $2.00 per article, a quick writer could make $6 to $8 an hour! Beats $2.00!
Thanks for coming to wahm.com to offer us jobs, Richard!

Thanks Blinky!
I'm paying out over $20,000 every month to my writers. Some will always whine and complain, the others will just do the job and get paid!

Sure Blinky and Richard, let's be fair. I am an employer who has hired hundreds of writers for web content (many from this site). I have also written and edited for many other web content sites. I have NEVER seen any legitimate, quality site pay .006, .0075 and .007 cents per word. You, Richard, should be ashamed. I know from many years experience that a 500-word article (that is well-written and informative) can be sold by you for a much better price than that pathetic amount you are paying your writers.
And Blinky, I am sorry to disagree with you...but as a writer, editor and a project manager I can tell you there is NO way to write a 500 word article that is 100% accurate, not filled with fluff and not plagiarized, in 15 minutes. Not possible. I have had many writers try this method and it only causes them to have to work more in order to fix it (which Richard so generously pays less for).
Richard, no wonder you have writers that are whining. You are taking advantage of people who are desperate to put food on the table and moms who are desperate to stay home with their babies--paying them 2.00 per hour, if they are lucky.
If you are a legitimately good writer, even if you don't have a lot of experience, you can still get your foot in the door with a reputable company. I have hired many writers with only Associated Content or eHow articles in their portfolio, because they showed me that they could write. Or for heaven's sake, go apply at Demand Studios--they also have TONS of work and they pay 15.00 per article.
I have NEVER posted to this board anything but job ads. But when I saw this topic, it REALLY got under my skin. Richard, I would love to see you try and peddle this crappy job on Journalism Jobs or some site like that. They would run you off in about 10 seconds. Move on and go get your writers elsewhere, leave these nice people alone. Okay..I will step off of soapbox now.
Regards,
Concerned Citizen

Thanks for posting the info about Demand Studios, writeradvocate/Concerned Citizen. I am looking at the site now. Probably won't apply until tomorrow because it is midnight where I am, and I'm having a hard time even spelling words correctly right now. But I will fill out the online app in the morning.

Well, I'm not commenting that nonsense what this self claimed writeradvocate said. I think enough was said. Everybody is free to do what he/she wants.
Those who want this job I just tell: there is plenty of work! For the others I suggest you just look somewhere else and stop wasting your precious time whining here! :)
Cheers
