I'm just curious...our catalogs were just released and I'm wondering how much everyone's catalogs cost...so please include the following:
For your price, how many do you get? how many pages? are they slick or computer printed? how often are they issued? do you get any free when the new one is released...I think that's all. If you can think of anything else, please add that. I'll start with what I know and if anyone else from these companies can add to it...wonderful!
Bittersweet Candles 10 for $15 ($1.50 ea) or 50 for $60 (1.20 ea), 36 pages, slick, unsure of how often, none free
Scents Indulged 75 for $100 (1.33 ea), 12 pages, slick, once/yr, unsure of free
Jafra 15 for $9 (.60 ea), 60 pages, slick, yearly, unsure of free; brochures 15 for $6 (.40 ea), 28 pages, slick, every 2 months, unsure of free
Quiet Places 25 for $16.80 (.67 ea), slick, yearly and holiday, one free when issued
This is from my seemingly unending research in this field!!! Thanks for your help!

Taste of Home Entertaining will have $1 catalogs and they are just AWESOME!!!! They are done on nice heavy cardstock type paper and have the nice glossy shine that you get with a laser printer. This first addition has 80 pages with 240 products, but it will grow when we do our next printing.
Readers Digest spent a small fortune on doing it right and it really shows. That's one advantage to having a great company like that to support it's start up.
I'd be happy to email anyone the pages from our catalog. It will take a few emails because I want to be able to send them full size so you can see all the details.
One thing I have to say, is that we have Mario Batali's stuff in our catalog and it's been so fun to see him promoting his line on the Food Network as well as other shows. I saw him on The Tony Danza show today and he was showing his stuff.
Anyway....can you tell I am very excited about our catalog? smileys/smiley36.gif
Brenda P.S. Our company sent every single consultant (3500+ at last count) 5 catalogs for free with 5 great opportunity brochures.

Arbonne they are .80 cents for under 10 of them and $.70for over 10. They have 55 pages and are slick. They don't change for a year and they are really nice ones. They have a mini one that comes out for the holiday season productsthat you can get.

With lia sophia our catalogs are 65 cents per catalog in packs of 10 and are 51 pages. They are also slick. We have 2 new catalogs a year. Spring/summer starts Feb. 1st and Fall/winter starts Aug. 1st. The company always sends each active advisor a copy prior to it coming out. Also, the month prior to the new catalog starting, we can purchase a case of catalogs (100) for $55.00.

Latasia's big catalog that lasts a year is $1 and the supplements we have twice a year are $0.75 each. I'm fairly new but I think they send out a free copy of each right when they come out. Right now they also have lead packets with each current catalog and opportunity info that they send out for us for free.
Edited to add that the catalogs are the slick, professionally printed catalogs. The big one is full color with 30 pages but we have probably 10 or more items on each page. The supplement is the same paper type, full color and 11 pages.Edited by: IamBlessed

Our product guides are $2.50 for 10. They have40 pages. We have other guides as well. One for men and one for women of color. These are $2.00 for 5. They are very professional printed catalogs with great backgrounds to show off the product. They come out January 1st and August 1st.
We also have 4 - 6 mailings a year that we can participate in. The company sends out guides for $1.10 directly to our clients.

We don't have catalogs but our 4-Fold Brochuresare apack of 100 for $15.95 and I don't think they change very often. I love them! I have been in other companies where I have spent so much money on catalogs :(

I remember spending a lot on catalogs when I was with Nu Skin. They were
beautiful catalogs, and thankfully they tried to keep the cost to under $1...
Now with Taste Of Home Entertaining, we will receive 5% of our sales in
Business Supplies, which I will use to "purchase" my catalogs. This way they
won't be an out-of-pocket expense, but will come out of this account...
Very nice!

Cinnamon,
That's exactly why I'm asking about this. I want to see if some of what I'm experiencing is reasonable or outrageous!!

I know with Latasia the reason the catalogs are a little higher right now is because there are only a little over 400 of us. It costs alot for a company to get catalogs printed to keep enough on hand for us and to make them as nice as ours are. The more consultants we get, the less the catalogs will be. They've dropped 50 cents from the beggining of the year so that's a good sign. They have also dropped the $5 handling fee for consultants to pay on parties. All of those are signs of growth and prosperity to me so I can deal with it for now knowing that they will be dropping the prices again when we grow a little more.

Ours COUNTRY BUNNY BATH & BODY are $.25 each or a bundle of 25 for $6.50. Which is the same price.
We also have Highlight mailers that are $.10 each that give a sneak peak at what we offer.

Our Discovery Toys catalogsare $.50 a piece when you buy 100 at a time, including shipping/tax etc. You can buy them in smaller amounts, but I don't.
The main catalogs come out twice a year, and we have 2 big sales with flyers a year. I love it because people always want to see/play with new things, but it's not overwhelming.
Our sale flyers end up at about $.10ish (varies a penny or 2).

I'm very fortunate! Southern Living at HOMEhas some of the nicest catalogs in the industry. The catalogs are magazine size with thick pages. (But of course we come from a publishing company) I've sponsored people because my catalog was on someone's coffee table! That's how pretty they are!
The best part is that we never pay for catalogs. (Only shipping to our house) We earn 5% on all sales to go in our business supply account. We use that money to pay for catalogs, order forms, free cookbooks for giveaways, opportunity info, etc
I've been with SLAH for 4 years and I've never paid for a catalog out of pocket. Right now I have $400 in my business supply account. I usually givethe new consultants on my team a packet of catalogs when they get started. I ship them direct to her. They cost $1 per catalog out of our business supply account.
I had never been in direct sales before SLAH, so I thought this was the norm. I've learned over the years that other companies do charge.

Yes, the only companies I know that do the 5% for supplies are now SLAH, Taste of Home (right?), and Quiet Places for You. It's actually the norm for companies to charge for supplies.

The traveling vineyard's wine catalog changes frequently, so it is available online for consultants to print. Most consultants only print a few copies, and have them available to look at, as most customers buy either the wines we showcased at the tasting or the wines you personally recomend for their tastes when you talk to them one on one.
We do have a small accessories catalog, which changes twice a year. It is about 16 pages long, magazine quality and you get 25 for $10, or 40 cents each. Because wine is the main focus, many guest do not take the accessory catalog home, and you end up reusing a substantial portion of them.

Linen World provides 25 ( I think..might be more) catalogs in your starter kit and then you earn free catalogs every month for each show you do. You should never have to pay for them. You get 5 catalogs for every show you complete. If you do for some reason need to buy more, they are 80 cents a piece.
The catalogs are nice, big, and glossy. This years is 43 pages and we only change catalogs once a year. Twice a year we getbrochures with new product. 4-5 pages 5x7 size. I can't remember the price, I think maybe 15.00 for 100. Very inexpensive.

Missy,
I am with Bittersweet Candles also. I was just talking to my husband about the catalogs being too expensive. Some people on the company message boards were talking about charging their customers for a catalog. I just think that is sad.

Ladies,
This is sooo shocking to read!! Our catalogs are free each season!! Spring starts March 1, we usually get the catalogs/paperwork around the end of January. Fall starts September 1, we usually get the catalogs/paperwork around the end of July. We do pay for shipping, but it's taken out of our next paycheck. It's about $4-$6 for shipping, depending on where you live. I pay $6 because of having to be shipped via USPS. The reps in US are only paying $4 because they are going UPS.

Our catalogs cost us 1.00 each. They are HUGE...catalog size.....with over 116 pages. (We have over 1300 books- we need the room!) I have had several people tell me they are the most amazing catalogs they have ever seen!(and TOTALLY drool-worthy too!)
I give them out to hostess, people interested in our opportunity, and buyers who I know won't go home and throw them awaysmileys/smiley19.gif, but since we have fully e-commerce ready websites-I refer my customers to my site if they would like to see the entire line and buy some more!

It's really funny how when we post our company info like this, there are a lot of people who are surprised at one point or another. Isn't it fun to learn about all the ins and outs of companies in this industry. They're all different, which amazes me, because there are so many to choose from.
Danielle, yes, I couldn't imagine someone asking me to pay fora catalog. I also saw someonecomment on how there are people who will ask for catalogs from any company they can find, and they were shocked by that. Well, I'm one of those, in a way. I have astack of catalogs from DS companies over the years. Some I buy from, some I don't, but I learned what I need to learn and I have the knowledge to share with others if a rep hasn't made it onto these boards yet. I also ask for online copies of catalogs...have a ton of those, mostly from companies that let you print your own. That way the rep isn't out any money. When I was looking for a company to join I even offered to mail the catalog back if I chose not to. No one ever took me up on it, but I would have in a heartbeat.
Sorry, I tend to just take off when I get started on the DS industry. If there was some kind of job I could make out of being excited about it, I would! smileys/smiley36.gif

hi i am with Passion Parties, we have nice color catalogs. our catalogs are
.30 each. if you order 100 and .42 scents each if you
order 50. we have 2 catalogs, and sometimes we have "special catalogs".
like we have a valentines one. they were 20 for $125, so not bad at all, so
those were only .16 i have used them for promotional items.
I have heard of people getting clear view binders and cutting each page
and putting them in each sleeve, and making up 6 or 7 and using those at
the parties. this saves on catalogs. I don't personally do that. but it is a
thought if you need cut back. i will usually let people take home the
specials catalogs for instance the valentines catalog, i was giving to
people. i had my name and website on the back and all my other info.
i heard that the average catalog reaches 6-7 people??? if that is correct it
is good advertising!
