Can you safely drink detox tea and take shakes while nursing? Of course i might ask my pediatrician as well, but any experiences here?

Hi -
I looked at the ingredients in the detox tea and some of the herbs- burdock root, uva ursi leaves and peppermint-are not recommended for nursing mothers. Check here:http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/herbal_safety.html
I checked the ingredients in the chocolate and vanilla protein shakes and they contain ginseng which is not recommended for nursing mothers.

Hi- I personally believe if you are making the all important effort to give your baby that great start thru nursing then you have to be extra careful about what goes into your body- b/c it will end up in your baby! The healthiest way to lose weight while nursing is to throw the baby in a stroller and take a walk- go to the gym- pop in an exercise tape while your baby sleeps! Not preaching here- but I nursed my little ones for a year(except my first child)and though I was concerned about losing the weight- the weight comes off naturallywith the nursing- I actually gained weight after I quit nursing b/c I was so used to all the extra calories I consumed while nursing! Isnt that funny- had to totally redo the way I was eating in order to start dropping the pounds again...
I commend you though on wanting to give you child the best start in the world-- and please before I start getting the replies you dont have to nurse to have give your child a great start- I BELIEVE that as well- I was unable to nurse my first child - only got in about 3 wks- and there is nothing wrong with him!

Thank you all for your answers! I will continue to nurse, and i guess walking is the next thing for me and my baby! I'm just very curious about the Figure 8 products, so i could better recommend them. I'll wait until she's done with nursing! -going to put my sneakers on...
