It's about that time, school will be starting soon and we want to know what you think about it!

What do you look forward to the most about school starting back?

What is the worst part of school starting back?

Do you have school supplies and clothes bought for the kids?

How do you plan to spend your time while the kids are school? (work, relaxing, reading etc)

I have two kids that will be home schooled (they are in middle school). And my 5 year old is starting Kindergarten. I am excited for her to start school and so is she.

I will be working and helping the older two kids!

:D

That is still one of my favorite commercials. It was for Staples back to school sales. They were playing that Christmas song while the dad danced and smiled down the aisles throwing school supplies into the cart. The kids lagged behind with a miserable look on their faces.

If you never saw it here is a lnk to it on youtube

Here in NY school doesnt start until September (but they also don't end until mid/late June). I work part time in a hospital lab and do my Avon in my spare time. It won't be much different either way.

Terri, I loved that commercial! It was way too funny!

I am excited for my kids this year. My youngest is going into second grade and he's still enjoying school. My oldest is going into middle school (7th grade) and is nervous as heck! OMG! So to answer the questions:

What do you look forward to the most about school starting back? I look forward to curriculum night at each school to learn what is in store for my kids the coming year. I am anxious to hear how their first day back was.

What is the worst part of school starting back? Waking them up at different times (they'll be in different schools this year) and getting them moving in the morning. I am not looking forward to all the papers that come home daily. UGH!

Do you have school supplies and clothes bought for the kids? No. I am dragging my heels on this one. I know we have some new stuff from last year (my FIL overbought), so I need to dig it out and see what we actually need.

How do you plan to spend your time while the kids are school? (work, relaxing, reading etc) I will be working, but I basically work 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The oldest will return home around 3, while the youngest will be home around 4. I am looking forward to quiet lunch hours reading a book. That's impossible to do with boys in the house! LOL

I have to admit I LOVE that commercial as well!
My oldest daughter will be starting Kindergarten in September. She is excited about going to the BIG school.

We are waiting for information from the school in regards to meeting the teacher and finding out what school supplies she will need. I have not started school clothes shopping, but will soon!

I plan on enjoying one on one time with my one year old (1st b-day is tomorrow) and working while she is in school.

I'm happy for school to start back because the children are getting closer to graduate! I don't like the fact that the traffic will get worst when school starts back. However, I will have more time to concentrate on my home business and get back caught up.

I am happy. I don't want them to be at home and be running wild.

When school starts back, so do I. I drive a school bus. I can't wait for it to start back so I can see all my kids again. I have actually missed them over the summer. I will only have one of my kids in school this year, the rest have graduated, I have already gotton all his stuff he will need. Thank goodness I don't have to get out in the mix of late shoppers. hahaha... In my spare time I will be writing. Can you believe it summer is almost gone.. Hope everyone has a great first day of school.

I used to work as a middle school teacher for students challenged with severe academic and emotional problems. During the first few weeks the students seem to always be excited to be in a new class, mostly to see how their friends have changed. Many felt so bored with doing the same typical summer activities, that doing a class project was fun. It was the best time all year to help them like to learn. :-)

I am pretty excited for school to start, I have been home with my 2 kids for 6 years and now my youngest is going into the part time Pre-K program at school.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kiddos dearly, but I am so going to enjoy some quiet and uninterrupted time to work on my home biz.

Back to school shopping is pretty much finished, luckily I don't need much in the way of clothing since I have been stocking up at garage sales all summer.

I made up a couple of Back to School Checklists (http://www.thehouseholdplanner.com/tcobathome/2009/07/get-organized-with-the-back-to-school-checklist-shopping-list/) you can download and print if you are a list lover like me!

It is a great time of the year! I am looking forward to NOT hearing, "I'm bored; I don't have anything to do!" Nevermind the fact, that we live in a neighborhood full of kids, have video games and movies, tons of books and magaines for them to read, and countless kinds of sporting equipment. It seems that they still get bored.

I am looking forward to hearing the "I'm so busy that, today, I just want to spend the day at home and relax with you!" That usually happens in October after the newness of being back to school wears off and we settle into the school and afterschool activities. We cherish the afternoons and evenings on the weekends when we can just relax.

I, of course, do look forward to the shopping and all the sales that are currently going on. Old Navy has kid's jeans for just $10 this week and has a 40% off sale until August 20.

There are some good and some bad things about starting a new school year, from one point of view it's a great opportunity for moms to have some time for themselves, but from another one- it will bring some other problems you must help your child to overcome all the difficulties he or she may meet there

I'm a little nervous my 3 year old is signed up for PreK3 and will be starting on the 24th. I know its a good thing and he will get to interact more with children his age but oh how my heart just feels like I'm losing my baby or something. They grow up so quick! And in two more years I'll have to do the same with my daughter! LOL

Back-to-school this year is being met with mixed emotions from me. Usually I'm looking forward to it...the kids are off and taken care of for the day and I look forward to chance to go to the bathroom without witnesses. But this year is different. I only have one child left at home now. His starting school means that
the intensity of the quietness around my house will only be more evident.

Yes, I already have the school list items purchased and he's ready to go, but that is only because I am so anal about getting things done early (instead of procrastinating). I'm going to miss him a whole lot . I wonder if he realizes that! He should; I've told him often enough...in fact, he complains about my mentioning it so often and I think he probably looks forward to having a little more space between me and him.

The part I really don't enjoy is making lunches the night before, but having only one lunch to make is no big deal. I used to make 10 lunches (back in the day) so this should be a walk in the park.

Happy days!

I have 3 children, one each in high school, middle school & elem. Although none of them will admit it, they were looking forward to school starting again. I think we all needed to get back to a routine. Although I will admit the mornings kill me!! LOL
