View Full Version : rbon board is being shut down

I was just there and the moderater says she has to shut it down and she got permission for it to be up a couple more days so people can gather emails of friends they have made, copy files, etc. I have use a lot of files from there, so I tried to copy the ones I want to keep, and thought I would give you all a heads up if you ever go there.
Hope this board can stay up. maybe since it is not run by a consultant, it will be safe...

You can see her post if you go there, some people are miffed about it, and I don't really get it. Something about compliance. they are really cracking down,it is the second board in the past month I know of that has been shut down by compliance.

I would thinkbecause it's NOT moderated, it is definitely open to being shut down.
While I like to get new ideas from cross line consultants. Too many people are sharing info (i.e. VP info) with the general public...BIG NO NO!
Plus, my thoughts are Arbonne would like keep everything compliant so they can continue to offer the consultants the best products in the market place & tools to help everyone's business.

That site was being moderated by a very committed and thorough arbonne consultant. They even had an Arbonne compliance person on board, and all posts had to be checked before they were posted. And you could only sign up if you had a consultant number, it was a private board.

rbonboard has been going strong since September 28, 2000!! I have looked back at the very first posts and read some posts from the leaders in our company, several ENVPs have posted there while they were business building and promoting, it was a very encouraging and extremely helpful.
It's a shame that sooo many people have benefitted from the group and for one or two disgruntled former Arbonne consultants/mlm'ers to read the messages and scour through finding any little piece of negative information they can use to serve their own purposes and in doing so have ruined it for well over one thousand consultants.

Cassandra, do you know if this had anything to do with that bizzaro fantasticskincare (or whatever it is called) board? I always wondered why Arbonne couldn't do something about that one. smileys/smiley5.gif<!--

Why can't disgruntled consultants from ANY company leave well enough
alone? Some people just want to work their business, why do they have
such a problem with that? Too bad about your Arbonne board, sharing
ideas can be so beneficial for consultants.

Hi Anet,
Just wanted to point out that the compliance person who monitored the board came on in december to determine if the board was compliant. Apparently he didn't think so. It's too bad, becasue I think the board was a great resource. I also don't think there was too much negativity there. I've seen a lot worse stuff regarding arbonne other places.
Actually, though, I think maybe SwissSkin is right, private info was going out publicly to everyone before it should have. (Like Vanish! although in fairness, Arbonne put that on their website inadvertently before it launched)
I'll miss the board!
The one Arbonne had on its own site hasn't been up and running since I started. I guess its a hard thing to moderate.

So, will we be disciplined by posting here? This is VERY public! That will stink b/c I have met so many great people here and you all have been my upline since mine lives so far away. I don't see what the problem is. You can't stop people from talking about arbonne, positive or negative.

I think this folder will eventually be closed (or perhaps Cheryl could make it private/invisible for us) because there are a number of violations here. People continue to use "Arbonne" in their usernames, people keep advertising their links in their sigs ... someone even placed an AD in the Advertise Your Business folder. smileys/smiley13.gif All of these things have been covered in the business manual.<!--

It might be good for us to discuss the policies and procedures so that we can be within compliance on this board. I really want to run my business with integrity...and I'm sure that you all do as well. I am continually learning new things that I can and cannot do. As of now, I have taken off the link to my website frommy sigbecause I spoke with Arbonne about it today. They said that you can't link to or from your site for anything really...I have another message in to them about if we can include our homepage in our profiles or not.
Even though I don't understand these rules, I want to do what they want. We also are not allowed to use the name A------. So, from now on, I am not going to use the name. Other than that, what other things should we be taking care of on this board so that we don't get shut down?Edited by: cindi8d

Hey Ladies. I have to agree with chrlston that I think this board will also be shut down, if they can. There are a lot of violations that go on here & no matter how compliant most of us try to be it's still going to happen.
There are going to be people who have no regard for compliance & do what they want. And there are going to be the trolls. The company has been watching this board for a long time, they know what goes on here. It's there job to protect the company & to protect all of the IC's & our futures. There are a lot of laws & regulations in this industry & the majority of us don't know them all. Someone could say the wrong thing on here & jeopardize all of us.
However, this is an invaluable resource for us. A lot of us have wonderful uplines who give us everything we need. Still being able to have the sisterhood amongst us is just as important as our upline support. That was one of the things I loved about our company, I don't think it happens in all of them.
But we all know that many of us do not have uplines who guide us & giev us the training that is necessary. For those people boards are vitale. Yes, we have company resources that give us amazing training but I think having another IC who can guidethem & givethem the supporttheir upline isn't givingthem is also vitale. If they don't have that then a lot of them will quit & the company is losing someone who may have been an amazing leader in the future.
To me the best solution would be for them to put the message boards & chat rooms back up in our IC area. They can monitor them, delete as needed yet IC's can still get support & information from each other. I imagine they'd have to be pretty strict about what was said but I for one would be fine with them being that way if it meant we all still had somewhere to go.
Perhaps, if you are so inclined, you should send them an email telling then what a valuable resource boards are to you & how you would like to see the message boards/chat rooms returned to the IC area so everyone could benefit. The company isn't adverse to listening to the needs of their field consultants. It would also bea benefit for them to be able to lay compliance issues to rest when we are all confused. Win win for everyone! Maybe see if some of the people you are still in contact with on the yahoo boards would want to send an email in as well. Worth a try. smileys/smiley1.gif

Cheryl, the prob is that we aren't supposed to be using the company nameor any of the registered trademark product names, as they feel it is advertisingand that's a no-no per compliance.
Everyone, We need tostart using 'generic' terms, like "anti-aging skin care" and "hormone balancing creams".

I guess they want to protect information, like if someone did a yahoo search on RE9, they would want to make sure they get to an 'approved' site, and not a place like this, or an anti -arbonne blog or whatever. But to many of us, the internet is a real place of friendships, I have several customers I got from another board I go to wehre people talk about everything, and if someone asks "what kind of makeup do you use" or "how come I keep having zits when I am 45?" or "my PMS is horrible" then I talk about @rb0nne and our products, I am proud of the company and what they offer and I share them with friends. To me, the message board I go to is no different than talking to someone in my mom's group at church. But I guess the fact that it is recorded in written form, it can be used against me, or against Arbonne if anything goes wrong. At least that board I go to is not archived, it has a certain number of posts and they disappear after a few days, they scroll off the board. But I guess I need to be careful.

I have a question, I have no idea what this other board is ya'll are talking about, but is there a proven fact that it will be shut down?
I have the Policies and Procedures Manual 2006, for those of you that also have it, read page 26 4.13. To my understanding if we are a bunch of consultants talking about our company it shouldn't bea problem, but when we advertise it is. hmmm, it does say "advertising and information included in internet......" I don't know if that "and information" means ANYTHING.
For those that only have the Manual from 2005 it's on page 24 4.13
It will IMPOSSIBLE for Arbonne to get rid of EVERYBODY that talks about the company online. You can't stop a person who is not a consultant from talking about the company (in a positive way).

Connie,
I agree with All Decked Out. Don't give up!
Why did you decide to start your biz in the first place? What are your goals? Why are you considering ending your biz? Be a leader not a follower. Make a list about this companny of the things that you are proud to be a part of. I know the top thing on my list is that the products do what they say they will do! I know we sell quality products at a reasonable price, especially when you break it down over the length of time they last.
Next on my listare the wonderful, positive people I have come to know. I am not wearing rose colored glasses, I will admit that not every person I have met is this way butthe majority are. I have met others from our company inlocal meetings,on this board & other boards, at ACTNow, people I run into that have heard about us or are inunrelated Nations. I have to say that I have never been part of an organizationwith so many positve people! I tell friends, family, & prospects that I would stay involved just to be able to hang out with these folks!
The tools we have available thru Learn & Burns, Arbonne U, & training calls make it difficult to not succeed. It takes time & perserverance to build a solid biz. There are some that are moving quickly but that is not the norm in any business. There are many more that are plotting their courses, building their biz around their life and fitting it in so that sometime down the road they will make it to the top. I believe reaching the top is the end result (& definitely it's own sweet reward) but the things that happen along the way are where we learn & grow. I appreciatethe freedom this bizallows me to work at my own pace alongside my day job until I am able to do this full time.I will be going part timeat my j-o-b the week after NTC so that I havemore time to work this bizand spend with my family. I know everyone does not have that luxury, there was a time when I couldn't have. Another nice thing about this biz is that it is yours and you can fit it to your lifestyle as your needs dictate.
Good luck with your decision!Edited by: Kiana's Mom

I'm staying and my BB is staying with me! We talked all morning and have too many testimonials on our products to bail. For me, these ARE the only products that have cleared up my acne in 7 years. smileys/smiley4.gif

Good for you, Connie! Congrats on your decision!! Take advantage of Arbonne U & the Learn & Burns (check the archives too), I always learn something new or reinforce/am reminded of something I forgot, even when I have heard it before.

Wow, I just came to check out a message board I didn't remember seeing. I think its a shame that a few ruin things for so many. Personally, even on our board, we are a friendly group and encourage each other. I noticed most of your post on your message group was the same way. The reason we all get along in whatever we sell here is we are all struggling moms and dads looking for people like us to help each other through our daily lives and businesses. We encourage each other and thats what all of us need. It helps whatever we do or sell.
Good luck to all of you.
Good luck to all of you.

I just wanted to clarify for everyone reading this thread that doesn't know what is going on...
THIS BOARD IS NOT BEING SHUT DOWN. The "rbon" board we are talking about is a discussion group that is not related to this board where several of us are members. The reasonwe are switching our name(on wahm.com)is because our company is very strict on their policies and we discoveredthat we aren't allowed to use the name of our company. So, we are looking for a new way to describe our folder. There are not any consultants who "made this happen to our board." We have chosen to do so so that we are in compliance with our company.
I hope that this makes sense. Just wanted to clarify that no one is making us take down this board and there were no consultants on here who did anything to "ruin it for the rest" of us. smileys/smiley4.gif
That's all :)

Hey Guys!
I was scrolling down, and noticed that your name had been changed.I feel
ya! I got a call today, and got a "talkin'to" about the message on my 888
number. apparently, I didn't distinguish myself well enough as an
"Independent Consultant" on the message... So I modified it quickly while I
figure out what I really want to say... So at least you're not alone!
