I found a web site that companies would go on and post what they need designed. People on the website would post designs and the company the would give feedback. The company would pick the best design and that's who would get paid. I thought I bookmarked this web site but I guess I didn't. I've heard it's a good way to get your name out if you can get a few designs. Does anyone know what the web site is? TIA

That's a good one, or was it like a freelance site? There are a ton of those, but soooo many designers there, too!

I have entered a few 99design contests before. It's very frustrating and addictive and probably a waste of time for the regular busy mom.
I think the concept is bad for our fields but I thought it would be fun to have a few projects that I might be able to have more creativity in. It was fun to watch the all the entries go up and wait for feedback. But it was so frustrating when the client would pick an entry that didn't even follow directions. Or the client would encourage you to make all the edits time and time again and then not choose your piece.
I think I would do it again just for those moments when I need a new creative focus or outburst but I wouldn't do it hoping for money, the competition is fierce.
Probably a great idea though if you're looking for starter portfolio pieces!
