Hi Ladies,
How do you normally follow up with those that you've met at a Networking Event (no samples given at this point). I'm fairly new (November) and haven't done much of anything because well to be honest the first 3 and 1/2 months I had no clue on what to do. I kinda still don't. I don't want to go to my friends and family because they are your worst critic and they will put you down before a stranger. Any suggestions on that as well?
Thanks,
Bridget G

What did the people sign up for at the networking event? More information? A sample? A catalog? A party? I would narrow it down from there, and then make phone calls. I would first ask them if they would like to try a free sample of our anti-aging line. You already have a phone # to follow up when they are done using it. This is a no pressure approach, and most people, especially if they signed up for more info., would be happy to. When you drop of the sample, or even before, I would ask them if you could spend 5-10 minutes showing them a couple of our products. Maybe the sea salt scrub, and the herbal foot cream. Once they have used the products, then you would either show them how to buy wholesale, earn the products through a party, get referrals or see if they are interested in the business.
As far as family, have you tried approaching them yet or have they already been your worst criticsmileys/smiley5.gif? If this is the case, then keep working your business outside of them. As it grows, they will start coming to you and asking you "How is that Arbonne thing working? Eventually, they will see that it is going well and will start asking "well, do you have anything for this, or that?" I am talking from personal experience here! smileys/smiley2.gif
Best of luck as you try to grow you business! Stick to this board! It has so many awesome consultants who are cheering each other on and a wealth of valuable information.

Thanks Barbara,
The networking event is usually held by the chamber. In a nutshell you walk around a room full of people introducing yourself and collecting business cards for those you'd like to network with. It isn't like a trad fair where you'd have a booth.

Bridget- I just joined a networking group that meets for lunch once a month-- I have offered for this next meeting to do a drawing- going to do one of the salt scrubs- we basically eat, introduce ourselves and our business in 30 seconds or less(so have a great punch line!) I am going to be posting a question on this board to help me get a great one! My hubby who has been going for awhile was the one who got me to join- there is a mary kay lady there and he remembers her due to her catchy little promo when she introduces herself!

Hi Leah,
What is the name of your group? Is it through the Chamber of Commerce, BNI, LBN? I've been trying to get into one myself so I've decided to do a womens group.
Have fun with itsmileys/smiley1.gif

Bridget it is called the LEDAgroup here- I'm in Louisiana- it is co-ed- and there are all kinds of businesses represented. Now I am also planning on joining an all womens group that a friend of mine is in- but that one you have to pay dues to - the LEDA group is free you just pay for your lunch each time.

I have been in Chamber for about 7 months now. The most important thing about chamber groups and other networking groups is to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. If you are new to that situation, it's easy to expect everyone to send you business and get business right away, but anyone who has been a part of it for awhile is turned off by that. It is important to show interest in what the other business people do and show how you can be an assett to them. In return, they will be interested in your business and will trust you more, sending you more referrals as a result.
After a networking event like a chamber lunch, the best thing to do is to call the people and set up a one-on-one meeting. Tell them when you call that you are new to the chamber and want to learn more about what they do and share what you do so that you will know when you encounter someone that would be a good lead for them. Remember that chamber and other business networking groups take TIME. It could be several months to a year before you see the fruit of your investment, but you will end up being given quality leads and building lasting business relationships that will be more fruitful in the long run.
Just my 2 cents. My husband is in financial services and has been out there longer than I have and I have learned a lot from him.
I hope this helps!

Hi Shelya,
I agree with you 100% you have an awesome point and I guess I just got off track. Thanks for putting me back smileys/smiley20.gif. What company is your husband with? I'm in financial services as well.

He is with New York Life. What company are you with?
I also have been focusing more on women's groups this year. I love my chambers and have a great network, but women's groups are very different. I think it's more difficult to peak a man's interest so that he will want to know more about what you do. Any suggestions for that? Other than that I have been joining women's groups in the area, but have to begin by building those relationships... I'd rather build stronger than faster though. I just have to remember that.

I'm with Primerica Financial Services. Hmmm, I know personally my husband wasn't into the whole washing your face with "special" stuff, but I had him try the Sky and he LOVED it. It's different though in the Chamber and stuff. Let me think on that because I haven't approached a man other than my husband

Leah,
I recently joined our Chamber Leads group. Can you give me some
direction on your 30 second commercial? Also, everyone goes around and
says what lead they are looking for, what do you say. I am looking for
people who want to live healthier?
At the first meeting I took detox tea samples and sold 3 on the spot! An
idea if you haven't done that yet.
Thank you!

Alysa- I posted here and on rbonboard looking for great ideas- I am kinda leaning towards one-- I teach people to smooth out the wrinkles and plump up their bank accounts!....I have to have it down pat by next wed- that is our next monthly meeting and I am going to throw it out there! may change my mind between now and then but for now that is it---
I am doing a drawing next wk as well- I am doing one of the salt scrubs- I am also taking the re body care system(serum and lotion) as well as the photo showing the ladies arm and difference it made in 2 wks(posted this wk) I also have little sachets with unwind bath salts in them- have attached my business card by punching hole in corner and tying to the sachet...will not have enough for everyone but first come first served!
My hubby has been a member there for quite some time as well as a great friend of mine- both kind of dragged me there saying it would be great for my biz-- it is also a free group- only have to pay for your lunch that day--
as to your remark about everyone going around looking for a lead- they dont really do that here- it is more of a get together and you do pass out biz cards especially to the new ones who are there- usually around 75 or so there- I mainly want to make them aware of who I am and plant the seed of what a great company Arbonne is -
each time they do choose one person who gets to spotlight their biz- they have around 10-15 mins to get up and talk during the lunch-It will be quiet awhile before my turn comes up- but by that time I hope to have planted enough seeds and shown samples of our great products
I chose this group versus an all womens group - most of them are filled with lots of marykay, beauticontrol and avon ladies- this one only has 3 other consultants - 2 mary kay and 1 beauticontrol--
Thanks for the idea about the detox teas- I had thought about one day taking some of the figure eight chews--

Leah,
I REALLY appreciate your input!! You have some
fabulous ideas. I was trying to come up with different
ideas other than just the tea samples.
Give the tea a try. I just staple a business card and a
tea bag to the detox tea flyer and have gotten a good
response. Atleast sparks their interest.

The detox tea flyer is product literature you can buy
thru Arbonne. Then I get the tea and just staple a tea
sample to the detox tea flyer. It is a great sales tool.

I was just browsing and happened across this thread. Please see my signature for the most incredible, cost-effective follow up system I've come across in many years of successful network marketing.
Snail mail can be one of the most personal ways to follow up, especially if clients 'believe' you took the time to handwrite the card yourself.
The flexibility and many applications will blow you away. Cards through the mail for $1. You click it, we print it, stuff it, lick it and mail it! You get all the glory!
"The fortune is in the follow up"
I assure you, you will wish you found it years ago.
