Hi Chocolate gals.
How do you do this biz in the hot summer months?
Do they not ship during July and August?
Or,do you pay extra for "ice bag" shipping?
Just curious as I knew of two chocolate companies that did not ship at all during the hot summer months.
Thanks
Deb

They still ship the chocolates. There is no increase in shipping either! They'll ship out everything via FedEx 2nd Day. I've never had problems with melted chocolates!

Hi.
I dont understand how the chocolate does not melt in extreme heat unless there are lots of preservatives in them. (Russell Stovers dont melt but they are full of preservatives)
Many companies that carry chocolate products state on their website that they cannot guarentee that the chocolate will not melt in extreme heat.
Its on The Gourmet Cupboard website with a few of their chocolate products.
When I go downtown and buy chocolate from Godiva,if its on a hot day,its already melting by the time I get in my car!
They ship all over in the summer but they are shipped by ice packs.
They are pure Belgian chocolates. They melt in seconds.

Dove packages everything in a cardboard box, then in a styrofoam box, then wrapped in a foil liner, then PACKED with ice packs that are wrapped in heavy paper (to keep the boxes from getting wet). Then ship it FedEx 2nd Day. They do everything possible to make sure that the chocolate doesn't melt! I wouldn't suggest letting sit on your porch for a day, but I've never had a problem!

Ok,thanks Kellie! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif That explains it a bit.
I was really wondering about the "heat" issue.
What is your average party sales? EVERYONE loves chocolate!

My average party sales are around $350. It's so easy getting bookings and getting people at the parties! All you have to say is Dove Chocolate and most people come running! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
