Hey y'all! So who all watched the race tonight? I had to wait until after 8 to watch it because hubby was working til 7 so we tivo'd it. Anyway, here's my thoughts:

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RYAN NEWMAN GOT 3RD ON A RESTRICTER PLATE RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS GONNA BE THE YEAR OF #12 I CAN FEEL IT!!!

I felt sorry for Kenseth and Stewart getting into it. I love both of them, second to Newman of course.

It amazes me about the yellow line rule. How come when somebody does it it's a big deal EXCEPT for when Earnhardt Jr, Gordon and Johnson do it? It's like they turn a blind eye to them. Ticks me off.

I do not like Kurt Busch at all. But now that he's Newman's team mate we had to take a look at him tonight. He worked so well with Newman. It really surprised us. So for now, he's ok in our book. Til he spins us out. Then he's black listed again, lol. I hated McMurray took him out because of him and Newman drafting together so well today. I think alot of the reason Newman finished so well is because he finally had a teammate to work with. But it sure was funny when they were interviewing Busch after he got taken out, McMurray got taken out and Busch was watching the tv at that time and so sweetly said "Oh, that's too bad" talking about McMurray's wreck. Too funny!

Ok, well it's on ladies! Our year has officially begun and I can't wait. I just know Newman's gonna have another 8 win or more year and be our 2006 Nascar Nextel Cup Champion!!!

Til next week!!!

Hey Krystal,

I watched, of course....LOL. I started at 11am with all the prerace stuff on Speed then moved to NBC at 1:30pm for the start of the race.

It wasa great race....kinda disappointed in some spots and now Tony is getting that "image" back because of today.Tony is just a great racer. To come from the back that many times and to finish 5th after everything that happened was amazing : ) They can say what they want about him....he is still my man : )

I like McMurray and Kurt (not Kyle) Buschbut it was rough what happened between them.

Ryan did a great job!!!! I was so hoping he would take Johnson at the end but Ryan ended up not having any friends to help him out : (

I agree about the yellow line with Earnhardt and Gordon....but whatever...I try not to even pay attention to them.

Here is to next Sunday...The Auto Club 500....YEAH RACING IS IN FULL SWING : )

I am not a Jimmy Johnson fan , but am happy to be watching racing again. I hate Kurt Busch and CANT stand seeing him in the 2. I have always been a big Rusty Wallace fan. I bet sales of Miller Lite have gone way down this year. Tony did a great job coming back from all those problems to finish 5th. And, even though no one talked about them all day, 2 of my favorites finished well Dale Jarrett came in 10th and Terry Labonte finished 15th. On to California!

Tony did do awesome coming back so many times. Iwish they would quit making as big a deal over him doing what he needs to do just like everyone else does. For some reason he draws the negative attention and all the other dirty racers out there get by. For them they say "Oh it's just racing". Just like the Stewart/Gordon thing. Gordon came up on Stewart and they made it out to be Stewarts fault because he didn't lift to let him in front. HELLOOOOOO, IT'S THE DAYTONA 500,like Gordon woulda lifted to let anyone get in front of him. Yeah right!

I like Dale Jarrett and Bobby Labonte. Was it him or Terry that finished 15th? Poor Jarrett is getting more aggressive though. I think him and Newman getting into it at that race last year lit a fire in him for not taking anything. He sure did get Green out of his way yesterday, lol.

You know, Kenseth used to be more passive too. After him and McMurray got into it in '04 he's changed too and isn't taking any getting pushed around. Did y'all see him at the end of the Iroc race the other night? He sure got Truex out of his way at the very end of the race. I was like YEAH GO KENSETH!!!

It's nice to see our guys that are sweet and just mind their own business getting to where they won't take anything off anybody anymore. Newman has gotten more aggressive as well. I just don't want them to get dirty with it. But I like seeing them fight for themselves.

Glad to see me and Dawn aren't the only race fans here. It's gonna be a fun year of discussion!!!!

I have not been much in to watching car races but maybe I need to. Oh you would love it Cinn!!! I never thought I would til I went to an actual race in '03 and we have been hooked since. We don't have the money to go to the races like we want to but we are hoping to hit every race of a season when we retire! That's a ways down the road but it sure is something awesome to look forward to!! Watch the race this coming Sunday and see what you think. We'll help ya get it all figured out. It's like a huge real life soap opera. It's great!!!

Yeah, my family's been watching since 2001 and having a blast. Sometime I'm going to have to make it to the Texas Motor Speedway for a race. My boys would love it. Sorry, I'm an Earnhardt fan. smileys/smiley2.gifBut Gordon's a "bad guy" if you ask my boys.

LOL, I like the apology for being an Earnhardt fan. I'll forgive you. I'm just kidding Missy. That's why I love this sport so much. There are so many different opinions and it's so fun to get into discussions about our different guys.

The race at Texas was when we got into racing in '03. Ryan Newman won that race and ended up winning 8 that season. That's how our Newman loyalty began. We've been with him from the time we started watching, which was at the race. I want to go to the fall race there. Maybe we can this year. Dallas is only about 4 hours away from us. Really nice place. Of course, I don't have anything else to compare it with, lol, but I was impressed.

He will always get the crap first because of what happened inthe early start of his career and especially in the year 2002. But oh well....I like the fact that he won't back down and just take it. What I don't understand is that if someone gets hot, it is no big deal....you get comments like Oh look he is mad or better watch out, but then Tony does it, and he has anger issues and is the bad boy of racing. Oh well is all I can say....the boy can drive, he looks great doing itsmileys/smiley2.gif, and I will always be one of the first to stand up and cheer no matter stigma is put on him for the year.

I am right there with you....Racing is in my blood too. I am from Flemington, Nj...Home of Flemington Raceway. My cousin raced in Nascar, my one cousin works for a pretty big nascar team, and my other cousinhas his own race team. And Idon't know if any of you know who this is but Al Tasnady is my mom's uncle, my granpa's brother. He was a pretty big driver in the 60'sway before modern day Nascar.

Missy, your boys would so love it. I think next year we will take Jessika to the races (She wil be 6)....and then of course take my son when he gets that old too. It is funny because when we are at the track, we call Jessika at the very beginning of the race to let her all the cars race by : )

Going to a race and experiencing it first hand is so different then watching it. I love the smell, the sounds, the rumble in your feet.....goodness June needs to get here fast...: )

We moved to Texas this past July and the FIRST thing we bought were season tickets to Texas Motor Speedway! We went in November and well be there again in april...and then November...and then April...smileys/smiley2.gif

The first race I ever went to was at Lowe's Motor speedway in Charolette. Stewart won.

I like a lot of the racers (in no particular order)...Martin, Jarrett, Stewart, McMurray, Edwards, Schrader, Kenny Wallace. I actually grew up in Fenton, MO (home of the Schrader's and Wallace's) and went to high school with some schrader nephews.

Glad there are many of "us" around!

I wasn't able to watch the whole race. We went to visit my parents and of course, my dad was watching it. But trying to keep the kids quiet while trying to watch it became too much, so we ended up leaving before the end of the race (darn it). I LOVE Nascar!!!!! Last year I didn't get to watch 1 race, but this year, we now can watch all of them (if I'm home and not going to meetings or anything, LOL).

I live in Concord NC...which is where Lowe's Motor Speedway is located ( It is not actually in Charlotte).

I live about 5 miles from the track. My best friend owns a business that is a shop for high pressure hoses for the racers. So, of course we are fans ( me, Go Jeff Gordon!!!) DH is an huge Mayfield fan.

When we are not at the race,we can hear the cars and smell the smoke from our house.

In September 2005, I actually got to go out on the track in a pace car. I did three laps at 95 MPH. It was awesome (and FREE!).

Now that the races have started, DH will be planted in front of the TV every weekend!
