First, I have never sold on ebay or etsy, so tips are appreciated.
But the main question for the post...is it possible or desireable to have multiple ebay or etsy accounts for different products or uses. Like, DH has one ebay account that he uses for occasional buying purposes. Could he have a seperate account if he wanted to SELL things unrelated to what he buys? Or, if for example I wanted to start selling kids dresses, but also wanted to start selling scrapbook supplies, could I keep two seperate accounts so that it doesn't look like we sell a hodgepodge of stuff? Does that make sense?

Thanks Kelly!
Another question about ebay/etsy, at this point how tough is it to sell stuff with a brand new account and 0 feedback? I mean obviously you gotta start somewhere but I know lots of people are really nervous about new sellers and lower feedback quantity.Edited by: happysmileylady

Kim, you just have to work up and make your mark. There are some people who go about "paying" for feedback, but I think it's a waste. Market your product honestly, fulfill your obligations, resolve issues, and you'll get the feedback you deserve.
You can also get feedback when you BUY on eBay.
Also, give people the option to pay by credit card. Not only is it more convenient, but people know it provides them some protection.
Good luck,
Alison

Everybody on Ebay started at o feedback. I would recommend buying some things that are inexpensive just to get the feedback. Then when you do sell, make sure you offer excellent service. Ship the same day you get paid or at least the next day. Describe items VERY well. Also make sure you take good pictures and enough pictures. Make sure the pictures are not blurry.
You can have more than one account, or you might want to consider a ebay store, they are a pretty good deal.

I agree. You should buy a couple of things to get a little feedback going and to give you the buyers perspective. It is ok to sell a "hodgepdge" of items. That is what boutiques and large retail outlets do all of the time. I don't think it will look bad at all and it may be easier to keep you finances straight and less confusion having too many accounts. Build up your store name. You sell dresses and more...

Hi, I suggest you buy and sell few cheapitems first to recieve at least 10 feedback. Once you got to this level then things will start to pickup and you will be in a better situation to start selling seriously. Thanks.

Hi there! I sell my jewelry through Etsy. Like the previous posters mentioned, everyone--whether you're on eBay or Etsy--start out with a 0 feedback.
Etsy has a section on their site called "Pounce" where you can see undiscovered artisans (those who haven't had a sale yet) and those who just had a sale.
As far as your original question about having multiple seller accounts, it is possible with Etsy. You will need a separate email address for each account, and if you're a seller, you will need to disclose the names of each of your accounts somewhere in your announcement section.

That's correct. Everyone starts from zero. But I do think it makes sense to start by buying something before you start to sell. Not only for gaining a few feedbacks, but to understand the process of buying. So you know how to handle your customer's enquiries better in future.
