Okay, I've familiarized myself with Barefoot Books through the website and have almost finished signing up as a Stallholder and I've reached the page where I can buy the starter pack... and I'm a little nervous about it. My husband and I are in a financial balancing act in order for me to be able to stay home with our daughter and I'm really excited about Barefoot Books, but nervous about plopping down $100, even though I know it's a good value. I guess I'd like a little input or advice from other Stallholders about how their first month went with Barefoot Books, how soon they were able to make back the $100, etc.
I'm a very motivated seller (my ability to stay home with my daughter depends on it!) so I'm not afraid of hard work. I just need a little ... affirmation???

Hi, I've already emailed you about this but wanted to make a quick reply here as well. Never invest more than you are comfortable with. You can build slowly. If you can only start with 3 books and some catalogs, so be it. Just let those 3 books be ones that you love to talk up with enthusiasim and familiarize yourself with the catalog and the online website, as well, so you can refer and mention other books.
But to answer your queston of how quickly you should make the $100 back, depends on how quickly you can get bookings, but you should be able to earn that back rather quickly, with just 1 to 3 home parties, depending on attendance and sales. For example, I had a small home party of just 5 in attendance and still earned $56 ($200 in sales at 28% commission level).
As a business, you will eventually need to invest some money into it, but just establish what you can afford and stick to it -- pouring money into quickly is not going to make you earn money any faster, but your hard work will.
Good luck!
