Ok, well I have been useing the Astrolite J223 wax forever, and I love love love it. But I have decided to go with soy now, and I am wondering what would be simular to the J223 wax? What I like about the J223 is that it is soft and creamy, has the best scent throw Ive found hot or cold, and is a simple one pour wax. Any suggestions for something simular in soy? TIA!smileys/smiley4.gif

I use:
Cargill NatureWax C3 One Pour Soy
(I buy from the Jar Store, b/c I can go pick it up and save on shipping, but I am sure other places sell it too)
It seems to work very well. Smooth, creamy, one pour - I use a heat gun to smooth out any imperfections on the tops of my candles. It is a container wax, but I add Stearic Acid to the wax and I can make pillars, tarts, and votives.
I don't know if it is like the wax you have been using, though.smileys/smiley9.gif

I use Soy-1 from Ohio Candle and supplies and you don't even have to light the candles to smell them. I use FOs from Bittercreek South.

I think you will find soy is a LOT different as far as the texture and nice look and simpleness of J223. Have you considered using something like a 50/50 blend or 70/30 blend? I am waitingfor a free sample of a 70/30 blend (70 soy, 30 paraffin) from Greenleaf, have heard really great things about this wax so cannot wait to try it!
I have only used J223 or soy, butnota blend yet but from what I have read it seems to really give you the best of both worlds, the beautiful and soft feel of J223 (or some other paraffins) and the clean burn/no soot of soy, with no nasty frosting.

When you use a blend, do you still have to let it cure forever like pure soy? That is becomeing a HUGE issue for me, because I make my candles to order, and I am not gonna make my cutomers wait a week :(

There are lots of places that have blends like this. Every one is a little bit different so I think it's just a matter of testing and experimenting to see what you like the best. Here are a few of the most popular places with soy/paraffin blends:
www.greenleafcandlesupply.com (http://www.greenleafcandlesupply.com)
www.justscent.com (http://www.justscent.com) (They are REALLY popular for their fragrance oils)
www.kycandlewaxsupply.com (http://www.kycandlewaxsupply.com)
www.tayloredconcepts.com (http://www.tayloredconcepts.com)
Also, for soy, have you checked out Millcreek? (www.mcsoywax.com (http://www.mcsoywax.com)) One of the things with soy too is that it can be very picky as to which scents work well with soy and which ones don't, whereas with J223 just about anything works great.
There is also a new soy that everyone has been raving about (actually a couple) from Golden Brands, and if you look at CandleTech you will find a TON of info there.
HTH a little or gives you some ideas!

Thank you Laura! The curing time was definatly a turn off to me as far as soy was concerned. When I first started selling candles I was all about soy, but now that I am actually making them, I have learned that parrafin and soy candles can both burn dirty if not made correctly, wicked correctly and burned correctly. And I love my J 223, LOL!smileys/smiley4.gif I will definatly check out the blends.smileys/smiley2.gif
