I'm looking for help selecting colors of the new Mineral Lip Colors. I love the formula and packaging, but the colors look different when applied than they do in all of the literature and online and on the $1 card. At least that has been my experience with three of them.
Guava is very pink on me. A client with "autumn coloring" tried it and it looked shocking pink on her. (She wanted something more summery than her Godiva and something with more color than her Sundance.) Any suggestions?
I posted earlier that Mimosa was very pink on me and the client who I gave it to. I was hoping for something more coral-pink or rosy-pink -- just a bit of warmth. I wanted it to look like on the card. But when applied, it turned more pink and less coral.
I saw Mocha Mauve on a client of mine and it didn't look anything like on the card. It turned pink. It seemed to lose the mocha.
Also, if you have warm coloring, which of these colors have done well for you?
I do not have clients who like really bold shades, nor do they like the super pale ones that are lighter than their lip color.

Well I've tried three, La Rouge, Whisper, and Berry Brown. Haven't liked any of them yet. Whisper is way too light link on me, it almost looks like someone put it on paper instead of lips, although another consultant I know loves how light it looks on her. La Rouge is okay, but not too terribly exciting for me. And Berry Brown they sent on accident instead of Whisper, so I went ahead and tried it, and it looked like I was trying to wear something that would look better on my mom my mom (who is a strong fall, I'm a strong winter) and it's really reddish, but the brown comes through just enough to make it look like it would be better on a warm. At least on me that's how they are. Now that I have a slight tan they all look a *little* better much I'm still not set on any of them.
I'm considering trying Mocha Mauve specifically BECAUSE of that pinkness. And maybe Shiraz? I'm hoping at our meeting tomorrow people break out what they have so far so I can figure out SOMETHING that will look right on me. My lips are much lighter than they were when I first started using BC, the second change in them so far. I went from wearing Rosewood first, then Diva, Boysenberry, and whatever seasonals they came out with, and now I'm at a loss because I have at least 8 lipsticks now that I've bought and tried then didn't like. I think they need to come up with the samples again, because this is frustrating. This is going to take a while to adjust to.

A prominent director indicated to me she did not like the new mineral colors.
We agreed it just doesn't stay on. Does anyone else have this trouble?
It goes on beautifully then wears right off. What I am doing is whiping it off, reapplying, sort of patting that off to get a stain.
I am really trying to work with this lipstick, but if it wasn't BC I would throw it away. I think it must have something to do with the fact that these minerals must somehow engage each person's chemistry differently.
The old lipsticks weren't my favorite compared to Revlon or Mary Kay, and I used to complain about the wearing power but boy I wish I had them back, I'd be quiet.
New lipsticks: Bad decision, corporate heads. Please reformulate.

Very interesting. Now I have had a totally different experience with the lip colors. I have had trouble keeping them in stock. I didn't sell very much lipstick before but often clients are buying several colors of the mineral lipstick. I love the Berry Brown and I put the Cadillac Cowgirl lip gloss over it. I tend to always mix colors, so this seemed right to me. Now, I find that it stays on. I have found that it is much easier to suggest the mineral colors to clients, and I was really hesitant before. I have some opened that clients can sample from. Usually ladies who have similar coloring will be happy with the same colors of lipstick, shadow and blush.
Did anyone try the new lip glosses that came out this month? If so, which ones did you like?

I love the new Rose Shimmer lip gloss and everyone else (with a wide variety of skin tones) seemed to gravitate to it as well. The Ballerina lip gloss, which I thought I'd hate, actually looked very nice on most everyone too. It was just a hint of pink with a gorgeous shine.
I also love the mineral lip colors.I have one of each open for them to try with the lip demo wands. They're so easy to sell because they feel fabulous on and have great staying power. I wonder why others have had such a different experience with this product. They're a hit with my clients.

Elizabeth,
Your client might want to try Sunset Mineral Lip Color. It is more coral on then what it looks like in the catalog. Mocha Mauve is nice but it is pretty nuetral. A friend of mine ordered the Mimosa and she really liked it. She is a good person for me to have try something because she will give me her honest opinion and she really likes the mineral lipstick. I haven't sold as many mineral lipsticks as I did the others because I always brought the samples to my spa and let anyone that wanted one try it. I bring a couple of shades with me and some lip gloss shades to sample but I know people will try the littlelipsticks more and I also would have clients call back after the spa and order lip colors because they liked the sample. I am anxious to get some of the lip gloss shades. I see they are going to discontinue some shades. I do have clients that like the shade Cheers and I didn't see any of the new shades that would match to it.

I was going to suggest Sunset also. I am an "Autumny" type and all of the other colors turned pink on me too. I just ordered Sunset for myself.Mocha Mauve, while they say it is neutral, is a very cool toned lip color-moremauve than mocha,IMO.
Another thing too, is that I have found the Sandstone eye trio to be very cool toned-the lightest color has a greyish cast on my skin and the darkest color is very charcoal on me.
I ordered Sedona and Au Natural for myself.

Where are you seeing they are going to discontinue the glosses?
I was told they are keeping them. I thought the new summer glosses were just an seasonal add on.

I think they are only discontinuing a few of the lip glosses. I found this on the information page with the new lip glosses.
Hurry. Limited time to purchase existing Fabulous Girl, Sassy, No Regrets and Cheers (javascript:browProd%2810108%29;) lip glosses

Well guess what I just ordered today? Still, I will have "no regrets".
I didn't see that on the back of the achiever. To me, when you are introducing new products, you don't tack on a sentence saying others are going away, that should be seperate like it was last month.
I did call the main office and explicitly ask about the glosses and was told they were being kept. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

For the 5-minute makeover, definitely have one warm and one cool lip color. The eye colors pretty much look good on everyone if you use Au Natural or Sandstone (although the Sandstone on me was greyish) I find the Tawny Blush works for most accept the very dark haired, fair (snow white type) gals-I use a cooler toned blush on them like Mauve.

Thanks for all your feedback on the colors!!! I hope we post more feedback on this forum as it really helps.
Here's the answer I received that confirmed my suspicions that the colors still have undertones such that it is helpful to know your clients undertones and then to match them to the products with those undertones. (I started in BeautiControl 20 years ago back in the color analysis days)
Thank you for contacting BeautiControl. The colors in questions have pink undertones and this is causing the colors to turn pink on your clients. Warmer shades are: Sunset and Lollipop in the mineral lip colors, Sand is pretty neutral (Mineral Lip). There are some warmer shades in the Platinum Regeneration Age Defying Lip Colors, Babe, Pixie, and Sundance.
