Is there a doctor or nurse in the house? I was in Philadelphia on Tuesday to see my doctor and for treatment for my chronic illnesses and he is very concerned about my immune system level. We have what is called a "Natural Killer Cell Activity", which as he explained, these are the soldiers in your body that fight infection, disease, cancer cells, etc. A normal range is between 30 and 50. My level is 3.8. He basically said that if I do not get that level up, I will die because my body is at the point where I am at a very high risk for developing cancer and other life threatening diseases, and if, God forbid, something like cancer develops, there is no way my body could tolerate treatments.
I already take our Defense Builder and I had him look it over. He said it is good, but because of the severity of my condition, I need something a lot stronger to make a big immune boost. He has me on Maitake Mushroom Extract, Pro-Boost, and Transfer Factor which are immune boosters.
Does anyone on here know if there are any foods, other natural sources I can look into to boost my system? I am really worried about this. Thanks!

sandy; i'll admit, i'm a lurker from another board. my girlfriend is an arbonne rep. i often come here to give myself a better understanding of her business (we don't get to talk much as we are both busy with our careers, and families).
i represent a company by the name of tahitian noni international. noni juice has been used for thousands of years by the polynesians as a natural dietery suppliment that aids in the bodies natural ability to fight off illness. click on this link to see the brochure that will give you a better understand of how it works.
http://www.tahitiannoni.com/sfs/uc/4261075838/english/tnj_ad 2_8.5x11.pdf
my testimony on how this juice has helped me is far to long to write out here. i'd be happy to pm you more detail if you would like.
all i can say is the health benefits that my family has seen from this product are truly amazing and i will be on the juice for the rest of my life.
ask your doctor to look it up in the health suppliment physicians desk referrence (PDR) we are in there.
it can't hurt to look. good luck to you.

Wow, Sandy. I will be praying for you...

I am no doctor but I would think you need to really be watching what you eat...loading up on the rich veggies and fruits-like spinach and brocolli and blueberries and tomatoes andwhatnot. They have natural anti-oxidants that help to find off cancer.
PLEASE keep us updated!

Sandy,
Geez - this is tough! I can't really add anything other than to wish you all the best. As Arbonne reps we all know that it's important to take care of ourselves inside AND out! Definitely report back to us!

Hi Sandy, you will be in my prayers!
I just wanted to mention that you may also want to look into astragalus. This is an immune boosting supplement,my daughter uses it in liquid form in her juice because she was sick for almost a year straight. It has REALLY helped her to not get sick. Hers is labeled as "deep immune support". You may want to do some reading on a site like Dr. Weil's, I am not sure of the exact address, and see what he has to say. Get tons of rest and be sure that your eating lots of really good foods!!

Six servings of fruits and veggies per day will boost the immune system. Carrots are awesome! As well as food high in Zinc - oysters, crab, turkey - dark meat. But too much zinc cause be harmful. It's best to stay around 25 milligrams of zinc per day.

Thank you everyone so much for the information and your prayers! I have been struggling for 15 years with health issues and it seems as though I will start to take two steps forward, then it's 5 steps backwards, but I keep fighting! I continue to have hope and belief that someday there will be a cure! Have a good evening.

Sandy- How scary for you! Wow. I don't know if it would help your issues but my friend just introduced me to something called Mona Vie. I've done a little research into it because of my friend & also tried it for a couple of weeks.
It's supposed to help with a wide variety of illnesses, like heart problems, diabetes, cholesterol, increases blood flow, immune system etc etc etc. You should be able to find out about it at www.monavie.com (http://www.monavie.com). I also have a handout that breaks down what each fruit does & how it helps you. I'd be happy to fax that to you.
good luck sweetie. We'll be thinking of ya.

Sandy, I hope everything goes well for you. I would think like the others said, eat fresh fruits and veggies, esp green leafy veggies. I would stay away from a lot of boxed food and premade stuff. smileys/smiley31.gif

I had testing called LEAP Testing, which are blood tests that show reactions to different types of foods. I did just find out this week that there are a lot of foods that I showed a reaction to and even, fruits and veggies! The ones that I like, too! I also have to watch what type of fruits I eat and I have to stay away from acidic ones because it irritates my bladder disease and causes a lot of pain, buring and can cause more bleeding. So, things for me are not just cut and dry. I have to look at the whole picture which does not leave me a lot to eat! smileys/smiley19.gif I figure by the time I'm healed, I will be able to be a doctor myself!

Sandy, I hope everthing goes well for you! I would suggest you check out Healing America. It is a herb supplemental company and the products are outstanding. You may want to consider completely cleaning your system such as doing a colon Decox, and then using the immune booster, good mutivitimans and Antioxidant. The website is www.healingamerica.com (http://www.healingamerica.com). There are lots of good information on this site.
Wishing you a healthly recovery!
Be well,
Dorrett

Sandy, the gals on rbonboard are suggesting the REsist supplement.
"Well I'm not a doctor or nurse but the Resist supplement is
great. The flaxseed oil is an omega 3 fatty acid, which helps
balance out the omega 6 fatty acids that we get in large quantities
in our diet. It helps reduce cellular inflammation, and boosts the
immune system. Go to www.wholehealthmd.com and look up flaxseed oil.
The Resist is good because it has the CoQ10, but for her severe
condition she may want to take an additional supplement of CoQ10.
Look up books by James Duke (The Herbal Handbook is one, The Green
Pharmacy is another) for more info.
Good luck!
Sally"

Sandy,
I have a little story for you. My mom has cancer and went through chemo about2 and ahalfyears ago. She was told the cancer had come back about a year ago. She started chemo but was getting so sick she couldn't do it anymore. She stopped and started looking into holistic healing (which I know has been mentioned). She has gotten her body pH balanced (which us Arbonne girls KNOW how important that is). She is eatingall organic and taking tons of vitamins (I could get a list from her today, if you would like). She is doing the best I have ever seen her. More energy and just healthy. When she started she was at the lowest point, I have ever seen her at and now she's like adang 18 year old! lol Please look into eatingorganic. The things they are pumping into are foodscouldn't begood forus!!

Sandy I am a nurse and here is a question for you. I have worked with Cancer patients for 13 years and am a little surprised at your doctor's response to you.Did he recommend anything else besides supplements? I would get a second opinion if it were me. I'm sorry he has told you all this.

Rhonda, He did not recommend anything else, just the Maitake Mushroom Extract that he started me on, Pro-Boost which I have been on and the Transfer Factor. I don't have cancer, he is just very concerned that with my natural killer cell activity being so low that my body does not have the defenses to fight infections, disease and cancer cells. When I go back in a month, he wants to see how the Maitake Mushroom Extract is doing by taking bloodwork. I guess if my level has not increased, then he will consider other options.
What is it that you can tell me? Does he have me worried for nothing??Edited by: arbonnegirl

Sandy, a friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She decided to go with FlorEssence instead of the chemo, etc.,and is doing well. No problems showed up in her most recent mammogram. Interesting. She said she researched a lot about this FlorEssence and saw that many were having good success with it for cancer.A wholesome diet is also important when doing the FlorEssence she mentioned. HPH!
