Hi Ladies,

I was recently contacted by a local reporter to run a story on my business for Valentines day. I just thought I would share with you all! Here is the link

Here is the story:

Novel approach to love
Several ways to get romantic this Valentine’s Day

Josh Adams (jadams@eagletimes.com)

Kevin Sherman thinks he has found something better than flowers and chocolate for Valentine’s Day — and his wife Brenda agrees.

“You’ve just got to bring something different to the table,” Sherman said. “Flowers last what, a week? This will last a little longer than that.”

The couple recently hosted a party for adult novelty items held just in time for the year’s annual day of love. Brenda, 58, and Kevin, 39, were separated for a year while Kevin served a tour of duty in Kuwait with the United States military. Having just returned in December, Kevin can’t wait to get reacquainted with his wife of six years, but neither wants to slip into a routine.

“This brings back the romance,” Brenda Sherman said. “It’s kind of like getting to know each other again.”

Since June, Jody Travis has sold lotions, body paints and sexual aides of all shapes, colors and sizes for a company called For Your Pleasure. A typical party like the one hosted by the Shermans attracts 20 to 40 people, Travis said, and she’ll average $60 in sales per customer.

Aside from the money and improvement in her own love life with her own husband, Travis said the biggest reward is watching couples reconnect as they giggle and fumble with scented oils and other more risque items.

“I don’t think I’ll change the divorce rate, but I’d love to,” Travis said. “I’d like to bring people together.”

Travis’ parties serve as proof that romance will be defined by the participants, but there are plenty of less racy options for couples with more traditional tastes.

For Linda Perron of Floral Design by Linda Perron in Claremont, nothing says lovin’ like roses.

“Absolutely,” Perron said. “Flowers probably speak to women more than anything else except a diamond ring.”

Valentine’s Day is Perron’s busiest time of the season and actually is crucial to carrying her business through the winter doldrums. Fortunately, she said, most men don’t care what it costs just as long as it makes their special someone happy.

“Everybody’s different but there’s no holds barred for most men,” Perron said. “They’re goal is to please their woman.”

For Doug and Isabel Langevin, Valentine’s Day means romantic music, good wine and good eats. As the owners of Bistro Nouveau on Washington Street, the Langevins will stock up on the finer cuts of meat and the most delectable desserts with the expectation that suitors are out to impress their dates.

If flowers and dinner don’t provide the spontaneity to keep the furnace burning, Sarah Sucharzewski of Wheelock Travel recommends an impromptu wedding.

“Vegas is always popular,” Sucharzewski said of Valentine’s Day get-a-ways.

Each year the travel agency gets several phone calls a day leading up to Feb. 14, and often times, Sucharzewski said, flights are booked solid. Montreal, Quebec, she said, is a great alternative for a long weekend to rekindle romance.

Then again, for the price of a bouquet of flowers, Kevin and Brenda Sherman would argue they get the most for their money at Travis’ party.

“Prices for those are about the same,” Kevin Sherman said. “Which is going to last longer?”
