It gathers on the bottem of the pot and drips down into the stand and then leaks out around the screw.

Definitely sounds like you have a defective simmer pot. the pot is all one piece and should not be leaking into the bottom. Edited by: ladilight

There are no cracks or anything to allow it to "leak".

It may have a hairline crack in it that you don't see. There is only one way that wax can get in the bottom and leak out around the screw and that's if the pot is cracked. Look for any signs of stains on the pot where it could be leaking out.

I had one that was doing to same thing as you described. It had a hairline crack. I called Customer Service & they sent me a new one. They also sent me a UPS label to return the leaky one. HTH
