Hi there, my question is can you go to a school that is NOT AHIMA certified and still find a decent job? The only reason I ask is because the military will pay for my schooling, but they won't pay for a degree :-( they will only pay for a program through one of their approved schools.
The school that I am going to now is for Medical Transcription, but Allied Business School is not AHIMA certified. Can anybody tell me if you had a similar experience? Thanks so much.

I know this is a bit late but I must say I have no degree's or certification for billing or coding and I have no trouble getting work. They mainly want experience if you have none you pose the risk of an audit and providers hate them.

If you can show through school test results or some work experience that your skills are more then enough to do the job, it helps to reassure the employer that you're worth taking a chance on. Hope this helps.
