Just for fun, I looked up some of the Yankee candle prices and here ya go:

$24.99 Beanswax (soy candle w/cotton wick) 18 oz. 55 hr. burn time
$21.99 2-Wick tumbler 12.5 oz. 40-50 hr. burn time
$17.99 Aromatherapy Spa 9.5 oz. candle - didn't list a burn time
$1.99 for one tart
$1.99 Votive I think they're 1.75 oz. but not sure since it wasn't listed on the site. It also didn't show the burn time.

Oh and that doesn't include tax or shipping, either.

I'm an ex- Y burner until I decided tolook forsomething better with less soot, longer lasting scent, etc. Glad I found Mia Bella's 3.5 years ago!

Yes! We offer a much better candle. The Y candle is horrendous with the soot it gives off. Yuck!

That's what kills me is I used to also love those candles and now I wouldn't dream of using them. I used to buy Wal-Mart candles when I was a teenager and hated that I pretty much wasted my money because they didn't smell as strong and I was left with all this wax. I would actually just out of sheer boredom (I miss those days when I knew what boredom was) melt the wax that was left from each candle - either Yankee, Walmart, etc. and put it in a big clear glass vase. It looked pretty cool all the layers of different colors kinda like those sand jars I've seen people make only with wax. That way I got my money's worth. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

I carry a Y candle with me that is about 1/2 way done (I blacked out the name) and I carry one of mine that is burned all the way down.
I say to people...which candle would you rather be burning!!

I also carry an icky sooty jar from my Y candle days to show the comparison.

Yep.. Yankee candles are definitely a poorly made candle. Shame too, they used to be high quality back in the day.

I used to carry a large display of candle jars from various companies to show both the high soot levels of some mass marketed candles... and to show that ANY candle can be made to soot if burned improperly.
