Okay, today was not a good day for me, Lets start by saying that i just received my candles yesterday and I was really happy and smelled all of the candles. My mom is in Mary Kay and told me a great idea to sell my candles, for me to make a Valentines gift using my candles and to sell them to the guys for their wifes/girlfriends, so today me and my husband went out to the Dollar Store and did just that.
My husband was in a bad mood today I think cause after approaching ONE guy and getting rejected I told my husband that I would feel more comfortable talking to ladies about having a candle party and ordering votives for making samples blah, blah, blah my husband tells me that if i don't feel comfortable going up to people then why did i sign up to the COTM. I felt terrible!!!!
I wanted to cry cause I was so nervous and he made me feel worse, so i guess what i need is some motivation and some ideas.
I'm thinking of returning everything i bought at the Dollar Store and start by just giving samples and my business cards.
I would appreciate if anyone can give me ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Karina

smileys/smiley31.gif OH Karina..sweetie don't give up. You are only just starting...and as you know you will probably hear 100 no's before 1 yes...but that doesn't mean you can't do well or sell the candles and make money. You JUST got started and it will take some time to get going and make some money.
Maybe your husband is just having a bad day and really didn't mean what he said. You have to step outside the box to speak with people you don't know. I bought a bunch of stuff at xmas to make gift baskets etc...I sold 1 during the holidays but tons of single candles and more. Don't let that make you want to give up. I am not, and neither should you.
Go ahead and speak to some ladies about some candle parties and when you make the big money from them, I bet he shuts his mouth. Valentines Day is close and sure guys will be waiting until the very last minute to buy, so who knows you could very well get some sales for baskets by then. Just remember as well that mothers day is around the corner and birthdays and annivesarys. Why not make up a flyer with a pic of a basket and put that you do them for all special occasions etc.
Goodluck and remember business takes time to build, nothing happens overnight.

Aww Karina, So sorry it wasn't a good day. Just remember to take a few baby steps..try attaching scent samples to your business card and give to everyone you come in contact with . Do you have friends who work in a doctors office or any office where there are large groups of girls.? I have put together a booklet which I have seeral people who have it at their job along with some samples and I generate alot of sales that way!!
Hang in there girl and remember to keep your chin and your spirits up!!!! Show smell and sell is my motto.

Karina,
You are not alone. I hearaboutLOTS of husbands that react exactly the same way.
Tosome of the men, COTM is an unnecessary expense. Ever notice how most guys hate to spend money on flowers because to them they're just dead flowers? It can be hard for us to understand exactly what you see in them.
What can be difficult forhusbands to see is all of the joy and excitement the candles and the business bring in to your lives. We don't understand your excitement about craft projects and gift bags and votive holders and ribbon. Sheesh!! All the pretty, frilly things drive you gals WILD!! I can hear your excitement coming through in your post! We can't always grasp the thought processes behind your enthusiasm and your dreams and your "whys" for building your candle business. That's why brides dream of their wedding in vivid detail all their lives and guyspretty much just show up!
Whathe will come to realize is thatyour happiness is worth the COTM price and MORE!! What he will experience is candle crazy customers who LOVE, LOVE, LOVE candles and can't believe how GREAT these Mia Bella's are. He will see you sell them, and he will see you recruit, andhe will see you make a profit, and he will, over time, start to believe it himself as hesees and experiences positive reaction after positive reaction after positive reaction from person after person after person. It's unlike anything I have ever seen.
Yeah, I used to be pretty much like him. But I'm a year and a half ahead of him in the business. I've seen my wife learn and change and grow and glow, so much so that, in my mind, she no longer just sells candles, she literally changes people lives.
Have your husband take an hour and read the archived newsletters on the website. That's whatI did and it changed my whole perspective. Have him e-mail me if he has questions or ifI can help.
You, and he, are absolutely in the right place at the right time. I like to tell folks that "the move to soy" isON in the candle industry. We are rapidly capturing market share and I have no doubt but that Mia Bella's will be THE candles to own. You love 'em, right? Go find the people that love 'em as much as you do. All The Best!!!Edited by: Silverback

Silverback, what wonderful advice! My husband, although supportive in everything I do,also read through the newsletters. They gave him a new appreciation for the business. Once he started seeing the profits, that gave him a better appreciation for it as well! smileys/smiley36.gif

Hi! I"d keep what you bought at the dollar store and still use
them as gifts, maybe just exchange all the hearts for flowers., and
sell them to women as gifts for other women, we have Easter, Mother's
Day and Graduation coming up! And women know that women like
candles, I think that some guys still don't get it!
Just my 2 cents!

Hi Karina!smileys/smiley4.gif
When I told my husband six years ago that I was going to get out of Corporate America and create financial freedom, he didn't say a word! He and my family have watched me do it, to my amazement! Talk about supportive! WOW!smileys/smiley32.gif
I went to college for TEN YEARS~ smileys/smiley5.gif
Creating a successful homebased business takes a lot of effort and working on yourself first. But the awards for those who step up and run with it can be quite amazing.
You have to find the passion within you, no matter what else is happening around you or what others may think (especially those with conventional jobs YIKES!smileys/smiley11.gif) and GO FOR IT!smileys/smiley2.gif
Work closely with your sponsor. If they don't help you, go upline and find someone successful who you like to work with. See what's working for them and brainstorm with them.
Have FUN smileys/smiley17.gifwith this and HELP OTHERSsmileys/smiley2.gif and watch what will happen with your business.
Mia Bella is a really wonderful company and is growing a LOT!
Now is such a great time to be a part of the growth that's happening with this scent-sational company.
Oh, btw, I was not a candle lover at all when my friend found this healthy company and great team for me. I questioned the owners and my upline support team at length before I joined. I first fell in love with the company, the growth, the healthy gourmet candle industry and my team.
But, after two years, I'm glad I have built an amazing team.
And guess what? I know MY HUSBAND IS!
Feel free to call me if you ever need to talk 773-577-1942.smileys/smiley2.gif

My DH has been supportive of everthing I have done to a degree... He wants to see the $$ come in. This biz however, he has really gotten behind. What did it? I bought a case of jars and made him smell every one... I didn't buy a lot of florals, but fruity homey scents He would love and Bingo!! He is pushing the product... "Lets go out at 8 pm to the resturant and drop off flyers and candles. Get those flyers out to everyone. You need to set up a display and move these!" LOL
I love it! smileys/smiley2.gif He will come around. Just be creative and continue to work the samples and flyers. Find your own niche and be successful within that area. What works for mom, may not work for you and that is OK. You will find what works for you!
