For those of you who have built a team, when you first contact a lead to you actually use a script?

Is it better to just use an outline and say what you need to say or actually use a script?

Would you mind sharing any of those outlines or scripts?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I am in the process of building a team but I find that if I have a few "points" written down I wan't to mention it is better.

I have read scripts over and over to remeber them and taht also works great.

I wouldn't recomend having a "script" in front of you when on the phone as you may start reading instead of talking to people.

This is a great question. I am new to the candle business, but have been in the industry for years. I agree that you need to be prepared, but you don't want to sound like you are reading. I would encourage you to practice with a few friends or family members and actually call them like you would a prospect. When I first started making prospecting calls (15 years ago), I used an outline. The more comfortable I became, with the process, the less I needed it. When I call a potential new recruit, I am calling to set a time for a face to face appointment, if at all possible, or to invite her to attend a company sponsored event or conference call. I am initially not trying to recruit her during my first call. I am just trying to get to know her a little bit and set a time to share more information with her. If you are talking with someone in your area, I would encourage you to meet with her for a cup of coffee. It is so much easier to read her interest level when you are face to face.
Now, if you are talking about actually doing an interview call, I certainly do use an outline. Otherwise, it is too easy to get off track. We all love what we do and want to share all about our company and products. I have learned that the more I focus on her and what she is looking for, the better the results. At the end of the interview call, I set a time to follow up with her in 24- 48 hours. Most people don't make a decision on the spot. If she is ready, certainly help her get started, but don't push too hard. The right people will join your team when it is right for them.

My biggest piece of advice is to just be you. Have fun and don't make it look too difficult. She may be looking at you wondering if she will be able to do what you do and try to duplicate your efforts.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I have been coaching Direct Sellers for a number of years and am in the process of creating a website/blog with tools and trainings that I have developed over the years. I love to sponsor and introduce others to our industry. Please let me know if you have any specific questions in regards to the initial phone call or the interview (either face to face, or over the phone).

I use Dani Johnson script books as an outline but mostly follow-FORM-for family, Occupation,Recreation(hobbies, interests) and marriage, if if they have kids, or anything.
Just build trust and a relationship with them.
