I love Home Interiors candles because the scent fills my whole house. So far they are the only brand that I have found that does this. I was wondering if anyone else knows any other brands where the scent is strong and will fill a room not just the area right by the candle.

I have a Scentsy Warmer in every room of my house. When I put a different scent in my bedroom in the back of the house, I can smell it all the way through my home.
I had Coconut Lemongrass going in there the other day and it was incredible!! I like to put a different scent in each one and that one overpowered all the others in the house!
When I put the same scent in each warmer, I can smell it before I open my front door. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif
I think you'll see that everyone here will say their company has the strongest smelling candles though....http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif I have tried a few of them and I'm sure there are some awesome-smelling brands ofcandles out there!!

Of course I believe For Every Home does. We have 7% fragrance in all of our candles and cubes. I burned a citrus lime cider the other day in the kitchen and I could smell it all over my house. (my house is 1700 sq ft). Plus it also makes a different if it is something strong like Cinnamon or something light like a Clean scent.

Well, I'm a little (ok, more than a little) partial, but my vote is for Mia Bella's! I always tell the story about the time my hubby's cousin came in and said, "You made cinnamon rolls for breakfast." I hadn't! I had cinnamon roll and hot apple pie melts in my simmer pot! --they just smell that good!forum_images/post_button_smiley.gif

Hi:

I too would go for Mia Bella. That's what made me join the company in the first place - the wonderful and authentic smell, plus the clean burn.

The best thing to do is purchase a few from different companies so you can decide for yourself.

I would have to say Mia Bella, also!
I love their candles! Their fragrances are so pure and they scent up my whole house.
I also like Scentsy's scents.
I have a warmer in my foyer on a table and it smells up the whole house, mainly if it's a Cinnamony scent, and Sunkist or the Autumn Sunset.
I like those scents and they smell up my whole living area and dining area.

I was a customer of Gold Canyon before I became a demo...I actually pursued it myself without being approached by anyone, because after a year of burning the candles, I refuse to burn anythingbut Gold Canyon. I went through so many different candle companies before, but I have an 800 square foot great room that we spend most of our time in, and I wanted it to smell GREAT! And it does every day now! This morning I lit a tealight downstairs in our foyer and was surprised to smell it upstairs!!!! Im extremely impressed with the Gold Canyon scent throw.

I live in a 4800 sf house and Gold Canyon and Scentsy both fill the house. Our living room is open so it's a 2-story room and the scent permeates the 2nd floor also.

My candles do. smileys/smiley2.gif

In all seriousness, I haven't burned any candles but my own in years. Therefore, I can not comment on the performance of the candles of some of the aforementioned companies.

I agree with one of the other posters... the specific fragrance will play into how well it fills up a home. All of our candles are packed with as much fragrance as our wax will hold. However, Jasmine will not fill up a home as well as Wild Cherry. Jasmine is a very light floral fragrance and while you will be able to smell it throughout your house, it's not going to be as powerful/noticeable. Wild Cherry, on the other hand, is a heavier fragrance and thus will scream "DO YOU SMELL ME?! I'M WILD CHERRY!!".smileys/smiley36.gif

My best advice is to sample different candles from various companies to determine which is the best fit for you and your home.

I've burned candles by pretty much every company. I've done this for a few reasons:

1. For a while, I was on the craft show circuit. Important to know how your product compares to others.

2. To help debunk the myth of Soy=No Soot. I can make any candle soot.... ANY. For a while when a certain rep from a certain company was using deceptive practices for marketing..... I had a display of several burned candle jars to show that ANY candle will soot if burned improperly.

3. I am a candle lover. If I see something I really like... I'm going to buy and try it.

You've peaked my interest... How do you get a candle to produce soot? Exactly how do you improperly burn a candle?

I agree that Soy does not always equal "no soot". It has a lot to do with the type of wick that is used in the soy candle. If the wick has a metal core, it will produce soot. A paper core will also produce more soot/smoke. Another factor is if the candle is 100% soy wax. A candle that is labeled "Soy Wax" can actually contain as little as 5% soy wax and still be called a soy candle. If the soy wax is blended with another type of wax (particularly paraffin wax) it can cause soot. If a candle is actually 100% soy wax, it will produce very little to no soot.

Another claim I hear often is that a soy candle will not leave residual wax on the container when it burns down. This could potentially by mis-marketing. Once again, the wick plays a crucial role in how the candle will burn. If the wick is the wrong type/size for the particular candle container, it could leave behind wax on the container. Also, if the candle is burned on an uneven surface or in an area where air is blowing a certain direction (say, from a ceiling fan) the flame could lean in one direction and cause "left behind wax".

I feel that candle selection is a personal choice. Some do not care if the candle is soy, paraffin, palm, blended, etc. just as long as it smells good. Others will only use a certain type of wax candle, period. I've even had customers buy a candle because of it's color. smileys/smiley2.gif Personally, I will only burn 100% soy wax candles. With my daughter's allergies, soy wax is the better choice for her.

Mia Bella bar none.

Not just their candles but their MIA MELTS too. They fill the whole house and they last and last right down to the end.

I've heard Gold Canyon candles give a good scent throw too but I have never tried them.

Im hooked on Mia Bella. They are clean burning too.

To improperly burn a candle... you simply burn one as an average person might. Don't trim the wicks... burn a candle where there's a draft...powerburn (burn for 8-10 hours), etc. And even soy will soot. I only use 100% soy wax in my candles and I do not use metal or paper core wicks. But I can still force them to soot if I wish to prove a point.

I started the experiment back when I had an overzealous vendor at a craft show from one of the companies here.... who kept insisting that their candles were all soy and soot free. Problem was, their candles weren't even "soy". They had long changed their wax but kept telling their reps that their candles were soy. They would continually go around telling customers that other chandlers products were "poisoning" them... including my 100% soy.... so I had set out to prove the "soot" point. I'm just like that.... don't make a statement that can't be proven.

Of course I think Scentsy is amazing. smileys/smiley1.gif I once did a craft show in a very large venue and was placed on the opposite side of the entrance. I had a couple cubes of cinnamon cider warming (still my all time favorite scent), and so many people commented when they finally got to my table, "So this is the wonderful smell we noticed when we first walked in." The fact that it carried all the way across this place was pretty incredible. But being right next to it or having it in your home, it isn't overwhelming. Scentsy just has a great scent throw.

I know the feeling Otto... I used to melt my tarts at an indoor craft mall. The vendors across the building asked me to stop using the food scented ones as I was making them hungry!!

As someone noted above, the strongest candle, is often determined by nose!

I think ANY of the direct selling/network marketing/party plan companies that are specifically focused on candles have very strong scented candles as that is the focus of the entire company. Great smelling candles!
This is what we market with, we lead with the nose!

What is nice is each of our companies offers something unique, offering different options to the millions of US people so they can research, make a choice, and/or enjoy products from several ofus! :)

Having the ability to recognize that each company has it's own unique qualities it what makes us excel in the industry.

I let my brother take home a 4oz Cherry scented candle yesterday...he told me today that the candle scent was super strong and it scented his whole apartment and its pretty good size. I can also attest that DCC candles have a fabulous scent throw. The Scoopables are very scentful and great cause you can put a small amount in the scoopable warmer and get a strong scent.

Ok, gotcha now. When I think of "soot", I think of the really dark, icky stuff that sticks to the jars and puffs up into the air when you blow the candle out. The stuff that discolors walls, furniture, etc. My MIL received a candle as a gift (it wasn't one of mine smileys/smiley7.gif ) and it left a light film on the jar. I guess that would be considered "soot".

I can't believe that there is/was a company out there promoting "soy candles" that weren't even soy!smileys/smiley3.gif And then to run down other companies in the process! That's just wrong on so many different levels.

The only "claims" on my site are something to the effect that by using 100% cotton wicks there will be no black soot. Which is true because the black soot has to do with metal core wicks. And, I believe somewhere on my site, I state that soy wax candles produce "little to no soot". Other than that, it simply states "burns cleaner, lasts longer, smells stronger" but it lists no other comparison companies. During the testing faze, my candles did burn longer and cleaner than some of the candles I tested them against. I also pack as much fragrance into the wax as it will hold. So, to say the least, my candles will smell just as strong as others.

I never purposefully make claims that just aren't true. Karma is a powerful thing and ones bad deeds will always come back to bite them in the butt. smileys/smiley2.gif

LOL!! The food scents no matter how light or strong, will make most people hungry.

It was so cute. Last night I was burning one of my Vanilla Cake scented candles and my dd (she's almost 9) came down the hall exclaiming "Mom, you're either going to have to blow out that candle or fix me a cake!" smileys/smiley36.gif I blew out the candle.smileys/smiley2.gif

Any quality gourmet candle can scent a house.
Usually the cheap ones cant
I can smell my candles from my front walkway...that's when you know they're strong.
but some of our scents are milder too, as not everyone wants super strong. I have people who specifically want ones that arent too powerful to each their own right?

I have burned various candles and love both Gold Canyon and Scentsy. I joined Gold Canyon though because they have more than melts and one 16 ounce Heritage candle filled 3 rooms of my house nicely. I actually like candles and not just melts because of the ambiance aspect.
